Welcome to your 6-Minute Evening Joy Meditation Practice.
As we settle in and release the energy and stress of another busy day of life,
Softly begin to shift your awareness to the flow of breath through the nostrils,
Without feeling a need to change or alter the flow of the breath in any way.
We will begin our practice with a compassionate review of our day's activities.
As your body begins to slow and pause,
Coming into a space of rest,
Invite the mind to relax into memories,
Even tiny ones,
Of joy that were present in your day.
Where did your heart feel unbounded and happy?
Was it in a moment of calm and quiet in a busy space?
Was it absorbing sunlight on a walk through nature?
Was it having lunch with a friend or colleague?
Or was it when you were simply engaged in an activity that brought you pure pleasure?
Whatever moments brought you joy today,
Sit with those memories for the next few minutes of your practice.
Allowing the sensation of joy to wash over you,
To fill you,
And to infuse your entire being with all the joy that those moments contained.
Touching back into the breath,
See if you can also touch into the warmth that these moments of joy brought to you in your day.
Take this joy and this warmth with you into your evening and into your sleep.
Resting with joy as a form of healing meditation that can help you rest and help you recover and help you restore your sense of love with the world more deeply.
