Hello there.
My name's Deb and I'm a Lactation Consultant and Tongue Tie Practitioner working with Dreamfeeds Ltd.
And I've got a lovely meditation for you today.
It's all about trusting your body.
So welcome to this space.
I want you to find a comfortable position.
You might be lying down,
Sitting in bed or resting somewhere quiet.
I want to invite you to allow your shoulders to soften.
Let your jaw unclench and gently close your eyes if that feels comfortable.
Take a slow breath in through your nose.
And in your own time,
Take a soft breath out through your mouth.
Again,
In your own time,
Slow breath in through your nose.
And a soft breath out through your mouth.
Do that again in your own time.
Slowly breathing in.
And a soft breath out.
You're breathing in calm and you're breathing out tension.
Your body has done something extraordinary.
It's grown and birthed your baby.
And now your body's learning something new again.
Feeding's not a test.
It's a relationship.
And relationships often take time to settle.
Imagine your baby resting against your chest.
Or if you have your baby with you,
Just notice them next to you.
Feel the warmth of their little body.
Notice the softness of their skin.
And hear the gentle rhythm of their breathing.
Your baby knows you.
Your smell.
Your heartbeat.
Your voice.
And your body recognises your baby too.
So as you breathe slowly now,
Imagine a warm wave beginning in your chest.
This warmth is calm.
This warmth is safety.
This warmth is love.
And with each breath that you take,
Let that warmth gently spread through your breasts.
Soft.
Relaxed.
Open.
Your milk flows most easily when you feel safe.
And right now,
In this moment,
You are safe.
You're held and you're supported.
Your body knows how to nourish your baby.
And your body knows how to care for you.
Your baby knows how to find you.
And together,
You're learning.
You're on this journey together.
You may like to quietly repeat in your mind,
My body knows how to feed my baby.
My baby and I are learning together.
Every feed helps us grow stronger.
I'm a wonderful mother.
There's no rush.
You've got plenty of time.
Every cuddle,
Every feeding attempt,
Every moment close together is helping your baby.
Your presence is exactly what your baby needs.
So in your own time,
Take another slow breath in.
And then let it go gently.
Slow breath in.
Letting all the anxieties about feeding go.
So before your next feed today,
Remind yourself.
You are enough.
Your baby chose you.
And together,
You're finding your rhythm.
You're doing a wonderful job.
Keep going.
