Hi there,
My name's Deb.
I'm a Lactation Consultant and Tongue Tie Practitioner with Dreamfeeds and I've got a lovely meditation for you today.
It's about building confidence after you've had a difficult feed.
It can be a really challenging time and so I want to give you that confidence,
The opportunity to rest and reassure you that it's gonna be okay.
So start off by getting cosy,
As comfy as you can and giving yourself permission to have a few minutes just for yourself.
In your own time I'd like you to take a gentle breath in and again in your own time just slowly breathing it all out.
Focus again on your breathing,
Gentle breath in and a slow breath out and I want you to know that if the last feed felt really difficult that's okay.
One feed does not define your journey but baby's learning and so are you.
Remind your body to soften again,
Relax your shoulders,
Relax your chest,
Notice your feet on the floor and once again in your own time just focus on your breathing.
Gentle breath in,
In your own time a soft breath out and if you have your baby with you just notice their body pressed against you.
Otherwise I want you to imagine holding your baby close to your heart,
Notice the warmth of their body,
Notice their tiny fingers,
Notice their smell and notice their complete trust in you.
Your baby does not measure feeds,
Your baby feels love and your love is constant.
Your body is working quietly in the background at all times,
Making milk,
Responding to your baby's signals,
Adapting every single day.
You're doing a wonderful job.
I want you to perhaps repeat these in your mind.
And each feed is another opportunity to practice.
Each feed is another opportunity to practice.
My body continues to support my baby.
My body continues to support my baby.
I'm patient with myself learning new things.
I'm patient with myself learning new things.
I am exactly the mother my baby needs.
I am exactly the mother my baby needs.
Perhaps you can invite some images in your heads and imagine the next feed beginning calmly.
You notice how relaxed you feel,
How safe your baby feels.
Together you take your time.
Your body gently releases milk and your baby grows.
There is space for learning new skills,
Have space for patience and space for progress.
And in your own time take another deep breath in and just let it go.
Let go of any anxieties you have around feeding.
I want you to breathe in calm,
Softness and breathe away all the tension because you're doing better than you think.
And the community of mums around the world is supporting you right now as they feed their babies too.
You've got this,
Keep going.
