Hello and welcome to the Gratitude Breakfast Club,

A quick morning meet-up to help you jump-start or maintain your gratitude practice.

We'll make it quick because we know you have things to do on this beautiful day.

Good morning,

Beautiful ones,

And welcome back to the Gratitude Breakfast Club.

Yesterday,

We celebrated the joy true connection brings to our lives.

Today,

Let's talk about food,

The kind of food that is so delicious it makes you do your happy dance.

When I was a teenager,

It was a rare and special thing for my parents to okay friends sleeping over.

As I recall,

I only had friends over once during high school,

And I was psyched.

As my girlfriends and I gathered before the TV to watch Friday night music videos,

I asked if anyone wanted snacks.

Of course,

That was a yes,

So I ran to the kitchen and got the snacks.

I believe it was some tangerines or oranges.

I happily settled in without a beat,

Ready for the night's festivities to begin.

It wasn't until the next day that my friends laughingly shared their shock.

They were ready for chips and cookies and soda,

Maybe some ice cream,

Not sweet and juicy citrus.

I also liked chips and cookies and soda,

And my birthday carvel ice cream cakes are a tradition I paused only recently.

But I liked fresh fruit just as much,

And I still do.

I'm so thankful I grew up in a household where fresh fruit and vegetables were abundant,

And where I ate sweet treats without overloads of guilt.

I also appreciate the friends who lovingly let me know what a food nerd I am.

So what's one delicious food or meal you enjoy,

And do you have any special memories that go along with it?

Take a moment to appreciate both as you enter your day.

With love,

Appreciation,

And gratitude,

This is Karen.
