Hi,
I'm Jeremy.
If you're here with me,
There's nothing left to solve.
There's nothing left to organize or rehearse.
Nothing left to get right before sleep.
We're allowed to slow down here,
To take up space and to take up time.
We can start to feel where our body is in space,
By sensing the support beneath us.
We're starting to sense into our hands.
We're making a small choice.
We're sending palms up and palms down.
No right choice,
But it is a small signal we can send to the nervous system.
Small choices with intention create clarity for the nervous system.
Start to take in the back of your head.
Sensing the texture and temperature in your shoulders.
Sensing the effort.
Checking if there's any available ease.
It's still arriving.
We're not adjusting or performing.
That's all done for today.
We're just letting our bodies be held a little more.
We're letting gravity do a little more of the work.
You see there's wisdom in the weight,
In the nervous system.
It registers here first,
Before thought.
Signals from our body are registered.
And sometimes,
The nervous system has a chance to settle.
And it no longer has to keep watch.
And start to take in a breath,
If you'd like,
Through your nose.
Gentle.
And an unhurried exhale.
Find it natural.
And just follow the rhythm.
We're not forcing.
We're not shaping it,
Even.
Just let it come.
And let it go.
It's your rhythm.
And the body's becoming less responsible for the day.
And our face carries a lot of sensory information through the day.
Here we can start to bring it in.
Notice where there's any effort.
Sometimes hides in the jaw.
Is there any available ease?
Loosening.
Noticing the tongue.
Letting it rest.
Noticing your eyes.
Heavy.
Letting the gravity do its work.
No longer needing to focus.
Notice your throat.
The texture.
Moving to your chest and your belly.
And checking to see if breath is still here.
Still gentle.
And you don't have to have a clear mind.
Thoughts might come in.
See if there's effort there.
Or if there's any ease available in letting the thoughts just flow by.
Less effort.
Less holding.
Less inner negotiation.
That's what the mind does.
And it's totally okay.
You see,
The body doesn't need perfection to sleep.
It needs less interference.
And if there's fatigue,
It can be here.
Sadness can be here.
Nothing has to leave before you rest.
You see,
You're not trying to win against wakefulness.
You're letting the system feel that vigilance is no longer required.
And feel the exhale.
Is there any softening available?
In the face?
In the throat?
In the chest?
Softening in the hands?
As if the whole body is setting something down that it was never meant to carry through the night.
There still may be some thoughts.
There will be sensation.
But underneath that,
Less effort.
And underneath that,
Less holding.
And something older,
Quieter,
Wiser,
It's already there.
It knows the way down.
It knows how to let go without drama.
And let it loosen without performance.
And let the mind do what it does.
And let the body do what it does.
Nothing left to hold.
Nothing left to manage.
Nothing left to prove.
Only this breath.
And then less.
And then less.
And sleep.
When it comes.
And come to a body that no longer needs to stand guard.
And come to a body that's ready for rest.
