Welcome.
I'm glad you're here.
This practice is for the mornings when you wake and the tiredness is already there.
Not because she necessarily stayed up too late.
But because however much you slept,
It didn't restore you.
You don't need to explain this feeling or fix it right now.
You just need a few minutes and a willingness to breathe.
So stay exactly where you are.
And allow your body to be fully held by whatever is beneath you.
Allow yourself to be completely supported now.
Before changing anything.
Simply notice how your body feels this morning.
Heavy perhaps?
Foggy.
May be unrested.
You don't need to judge this or push it away.
Just sit with it and allow it to be true for a moment.
Stay with this honest noticing for a little while longer.
Breathing however feels natural.
When you feel ready.
Begin to let your exhale soften and lengthen slightly.
Not a performance of calm.
Just a small,
Natural extension of the out-breath.
As if releasing something you've been holding overnight.
Continue with this gently lengthened exhale for several more breaths at your own pace.
If your mind wanders,
Simply draw it back to focusing on the breath.
Now,
Let each exhale fade all the way to its natural end,
Rather than rushing to the next inhale.
Notice the small pause that follows the exhale.
Let the next breath arrive in its own time.
Stay with this rhythm for as long as feels right.
Fully exhaling Briefly pausing.
.
.
Allowing the new inhale to arrive on its own.
Then let your breath settle back into whatever rhythm it wants now.
The tiredness may still be there.
This practice was never going to undo a night of unrestorative sleep in only a few minutes.
That really isn't what it's for.
What you've done,
Though,
Is meet the morning as it actually is,
Rather than fighting it before the day has even started.
That's a small but real shift.
So when you are ready,
Take a slightly deeper breath in.
And let your eyes open in your own time.
If this was helpful,
The next lesson in mornings when you're already exhausted.
Is available on my profile.
Thank you for practicing with me today.
