Hello and welcome.
I suspect that if you're here,
You have a child with ADHD that you're struggling to parent right now.
I feel you.
I've been there.
And I'm really glad that we can work through this together.
So let's start by finding a quiet place that you can be on your own for a few minutes,
Undisturbed,
And where your child too will be safe.
You can pause this recording if you need to find that place.
I'll wait for you.
Now that you've found a quiet place to be,
We're going to spend a moment to ground our body in the moment and calm ourselves down.
Find a seat somewhere where your back will be supported and you feel comfortable.
Close your eyes.
I want you to feel your sitting bones supported underneath you.
Feel your feet and your legs grounded into the earth.
Grounded into the earth.
Feel your back supported by the surface that you're resting on and how calming and good it feels to be able to relax and rest knowing that the surface beneath you is there.
It's not going to go anywhere.
And it's there to support and calm you.
And now with your eyes closed,
Take a deep breath in and slowly exhale.
Deep breath in and out.
Drop your shoulders.
Deep breath in and deep breath out.
Now repeat the following phrases either quietly in your mind or out loud to yourself.
I acknowledge that I'm feeling upset and deserve to take a break.
I acknowledge that I'm feeling upset and deserve to take a break.
Inhale.
Exhale.
Exhale.
I am grateful to have my child to love,
Though it may feel difficult right now.
I am grateful to have my child to love,
Though it may feel difficult right now.
Inhale.
Exhale.
I know my child deserves to be happy and strive to do what's best for them.
I know my child deserves to be happy and strive to do what's best for them.
Inhale.
Exhale.
I also deserve happiness and need to do what's best for me too.
I also deserve happiness and need to do what's best for me too.
Inhale.
Exhale.
I know that I'm not perfect,
But I'm proud that I'm trying to be the best parent I can.
I know that I'm not perfect,
But I'm proud that I'm trying to be the best parent I can.
Inhale.
Exhale.
Now open your eyes and give yourself a hug.
You deserve it.
And then calmly go on with your day.
