Let's begin this practice by giving yourself a moment to settle into a comfortable position.
You can sit upright or lie down.
Whichever feels supportive for you.
Allow your spine to be long and neutral.
And let your shoulders soften.
You may gently want to close your eyes.
Or keep them softly open,
Whichever feels right.
And then take a deep and kind breath in.
And a slow,
Gentle breath out.
Bringing your attention inward.
To your body.
Feel the weight of your body resting on the chair,
The floor or wherever you are.
Notice the connection between your body and the earth.
And with each exhale,
Allow your body to sink a little deeper.
Resting fully into its support.
And as you breathe,
Notice how your chest and belly expand.
And relax.
With the exhale.
Feel the subtle sensations of movement.
Temperature or energy.
Without needing them to be in any particular way.
And if your mind starts to wander and thoughts or worries appear.
Notice them kindly,
Without judgment.
And gently guide your attention back to your breath.
Your steady anchor.
Now gently bring your awareness to your toes.
Simply notice them.
Right toes.
Left toes.
The tops,
The undersides.
Some areas may feel warm or cool,
Others tingling or even neutral.
You don't need to create any sensation.
Just allow what is present.
And then move your awareness to your feet.
Notice arches,
Heels.
Tops and bottoms.
Take a moment to explore with gentle curiosity.
And then when you're ready.
Let go of this area and move on.
Shifting your attention to your ankles and calves.
Notice muscles,
Skin and bones.
Perhaps a tingling.
Tension or ease.
Whatever is present is okay.
Now the knees.
The front,
The back,
The sides.
Notice what you can.
Then the thighs,
Hamstrings,
Front,
Back.
Explore each area with a kind and curious attention.
Bring awareness to your hips and pelvis.
Notice glutes.
Front,
Back and sides,
All around.
Some areas may feel heavy or light.
Warm or tingly.
Others may feel neutral.
Let all sensations or absence of sensation be equally important.
Shift your attention to your belly.
Notice its rise and fall with each breath.
Notice the lower back.
Kidneys the internal spaces.
Allow curiosity to explore gently.
Without expectation.
And then move to the chest.
Feel the breath moving the ribcage.
Can you notice your heartbeat?
Perhaps at the front or the back.
All sensations are welcome.
Now the shoulders.
Notice ease,
Tension.
Warmth or a subtle energy.
Allow this awareness down the arms.
Upper arms,
Elbows.
Forearms.
Breathe.
Palms,
Notice the thumbs and fingers.
The spaces between.
The backs of the hands.
Then bring awareness to your throat and neck.
In the back of your head.
Release the jaw.
Soften the tongue.
Notice sensations inside the mouth.
And then shift your focus to your face.
Notice ears.
Nose,
The eyes.
Notice the forehead.
And the space behind the eyes.
Feel the top of the head,
The crown.
The sides.
Allowing curiosity to explore gently.
And now,
Widen your awareness to the whole body.
Notice your body as a complete connected system.
Feel energy.
Warm.
Tingling or stillness.
All sensations or their absence are part of your unique experience.
Stay curious.
Open,
And kind with yourself.
Stay with this sense of the whole body for a few more breaths.
And rest in the sensations.
Complete.
Connected.
Hole.
And as we close,
Continue to remain aware of your body.
Take one full and gentle breath in.
And a long,
Soft breath out.
Feel again the connection between your body and the earth.
And when you're ready,
Slowly open your eyes.
Carrying this sense of curiosity and kindness with you.
