Hello friends,
Welcome to our calm down meditation series,
Where we learn how to feel our feelings and then calm down.
Sometimes we might feel sad,
And that's okay.
It's normal to feel sad sometimes.
We're going to take a moment to feel the feelings of our sadness,
To talk to them,
To find out what they need us to know,
And then we will let them go.
Let's begin by laying down and gently closing our eyes.
Are you feeling sad right now?
It's okay to feel sad.
Everyone feels sad sometimes.
Let's take a moment to explore and get to know our sadness.
Sometimes sad makes us feel alone.
Sometimes it can make us feel small.
Sometimes it can make us cry.
Let's take some deep,
Slow breaths.
Imagine your sadness as a soft,
Blue cloud floating around your heart.
Let's talk to it.
What is it trying to tell you?
Maybe it's telling you that you miss someone.
Maybe you didn't get something that you wanted.
Maybe your feelings were hurt.
Or maybe you're just disappointed.
Everybody feels these feelings sometimes.
Let's take some more slow breaths.
I want you to imagine now a big,
Heart-shaped balloon right in front of you.
With each breath,
Imagine this balloon filling up with love.
As you breathe out,
Feel the balloon expanding.
And this time,
As you exhale,
Imagine blowing this balloon into the blue clouds,
Sending all of this love to your sadness.
With each breath,
Feel the sadness softening and the cloud becoming lighter and lighter.
As the balloon flies through the clouds,
Clouds get lighter and thinner and smaller,
Breathing in and out.
Watch as the clouds disappear and turn into a beautiful sunset.
You can watch your big,
Heart balloon float up into the sunset,
Leaving,
Focusing on the rhythm of your breath and feeling of love like a big,
Warm hug.
Know that it's okay to feel sad,
But also know that you have the power to let go of your sadness and find peace within yourself.
When you're ready,
Slowly open your eyes and notice how much lighter you feel,
Knowing you always have the ability to calm your mind and soothe your heart.
