Welcome to your evening unwind.
Before you rest and dream tonight,
I need you to understand something important.
Throughout your day you carried many feelings.
Stress,
Excitement,
Frustration,
Joy,
Maybe some pain.
And here's what most people never learn.
Before you sleep,
Your body needs to process those emotions,
Not store them.
When you don't release what you felt,
It doesn't just disappear.
It gets stuck in your body as tension,
Anxiety,
As the kind of restless sleep where you wake up still tired.
Scientists call this metabolizing your emotions,
Like digesting your feelings.
I call it honoring what you lived through today.
So right now,
If you're still holding something heavy from today,
Let's move it through.
This is your moment.
Shake out your hands,
Roll your shoulders back.
If you need to make a sound,
Do it.
You can even punch your pillow or scream into it if something made you really angry or frustrated today.
Or if there's something you want to rejoice,
Scream with joy.
I wouldn't even use a pillow for that,
But you may want to if you're not comfortable with expressing it out loud.
But seriously,
This isn't dramatic.
This is your body.
This is how your body was designed to release.
Trust its intelligence.
If you need more time,
Pause this track now.
Take as long as you need to let your feelings express themselves safely,
Then come back when you're ready.
Now let's settle back in.
Find a comfortable spot,
Sitting or lying down,
Whatever feels good.
As your body settles,
Notice anything that wants to move.
Go ahead and do it.
Maybe you want to raise your arms.
Maybe you want to twist your ankles.
Maybe you want to sway a little bit.
Maybe you want to just jump really quickly.
Whatever your body wants to do,
Do it.
And then when you're ready,
Start to close your eyes softly.
Let's start with a calming breath.
We'll use a simple pattern.
We're going to breathe in through your nose for four counts,
Hold for two counts,
And then exhale for six.
Here we go.
Breathe in.
One,
Two,
Three,
Four.
Hold your breath.
One,
Two.
And now exhale slowly through your mouth for six,
Five,
Four,
Three,
Two,
One.
Do it again.
Breathe in.
One,
Two,
Three,
Four.
Hold.
One,
Two.
And exhale completely.
Six,
Five,
Four,
Three,
Two,
One.
One more time.
One,
Two,
Three,
Four.
Hold.
One,
Two.
Exhale.
Six,
Five,
Four,
Three,
Two,
One.
Now keep breathing at your own pace.
With each exhale,
Feel your shoulders drop,
Your jaw soften,
Your face relax.
Let each breath carry you deeper into this moment.
Whatever today held,
You showed up.
That was more than enough.
Now it's time to let go of what's not yours to carry into tomorrow.
Imagine everything you carried today as leaves on the ground.
With every exhale,
Watch one leaf lift gently,
Caught by the evening breeze.
See it drift away,
Getting smaller and smaller until it disappears.
Another exhale,
Another leaf drifts away.
Let go of any pressure you felt today.
Let go of what you couldn't finish.
Let go of what someone said.
Let go of tomorrow's worries.
Just keep breathing,
Watching those leaves float away,
Taking your stress with them.
Let these truths sink in.
I release the day with gratitude.
I showed up and that's what matters.
I can handle tomorrow.
I deserve rest and peace.
Now we'll do a gentle body scan,
Moving slowly from head to toe,
Starting at the very top of your head.
Feel any tension melting away.
Soften your forehead.
Let those worry lines smooth out completely.
Relax around your eyes.
Soften your cheeks.
Unclench your jaw.
Let it drop open slightly.
Feel your neck lengthening,
Shoulders dropping.
Notice your upper arms becoming heavy,
Forearms releasing,
Hands completely relaxed.
Feel your breath moving gently in and out of your chest.
Let your back be fully supported.
Allow your lower back to release,
Your sitting bones grounding down,
Your hips settling.
Thighs become heavy,
Knees soft,
Feet spreading wide and warm.
Notice your whole body peaceful,
Still.
Now let's find gratitude in this day.
Think of three things from today.
They can be tiny,
Maybe a kind word someone shared with you,
A laugh,
Quiet moment of peace.
Feel that warmth in your chest.
Expand that gratitude for your breath that sustains you,
For this bed or chair that is holding you,
For the roof over your head.
Let gratitude wash over you like gentle waves.
Remember that tree from this morning?
You are still here.
Even if today bent you in ways that felt uncomfortable,
Your roots held.
And tomorrow you get to grow again.
Trees don't replay their day wondering if they did it right.
They just rest.
They trust the cycle.
You can too.
In this deep calm you are completely safe.
You are held.
You are so much more than your tasks and timelines,
Grades and your social media.
You are worthy of rest.
You are worthy of peace.
Before you drift off,
If you really want tomorrow to be your best day,
Here's the move.
No screens from here on out.
I know it's tempting.
I know everyone's posting and texting and your wants that hit of dopamine.
But your body needs something different right now.
It needs to stay in this calm state we just created together.
Screens light up your brain when it's trying to power down.
They trick your nervous system into thinking it's daytime.
They steal the deep rest your body is begging for.
The strongest,
Clearest,
Most powerful version of you tomorrow starts with how you end today.
And that means staying here with your body,
With your breath,
Letting sleep come naturally.
This is your practice.
This is how you build real rest,
Real strength.
Choosing yourself over the noise.
That's power.
Take one final intentional breath with me.
Breathe in.
One,
Two,
Three,
Four.
Hold.
One,
Two,
And out.
Six,
Five,
Four,
Three,
Two,
One.
You have everything you need with you.
Rest well.
Let sleep come naturally,
Peacefully,
Deeply.
