Nature Saves the Day by Hatch Brider A long time ago there lived a little boy and every time someone said something mean to him or did something unkind to him,

He felt so very sad that his sadness would visit his heart for days and days until one day.

He had just finished school and was walking out of his classroom's door when all of a sudden one of his school friends told him,

Your hair looks funny today.

This hurt the little boy's feelings.

As soon as he saw his mother,

His tears of sadness came pouring out.

After he told his mother what had happened,

She said to him,

Well,

Do you like your hair?

The little boy nodded his head yes.

She smiled and said,

People will say all kinds of things,

But what matters most is what you think about you.

And then they did the most magical thing together.

You know what that was?

They walked together to find a calm and quiet place outdoors.

They found a lovely tree to sit next to and the mommy asked the little boy to close his eyes and breathe.

Then she said,

Pay attention to everything you feel and hear in nature.

Do you feel the wind's hug?

Do you hear the birds singing to you?

Do you hear the leaves whispering kind sounds to you?

Do you smell the sweet smells the flowers are making for you?

The boy closed his eyes and he breathed in from his nose and out from his mouth as he tried to feel and listen for what his mother shared.

After a few minutes,

The little boy felt his heart feel calm and peaceful.

Love and kindness filled his heart.

The end.

Now where do you think that love and kindness came from?

Think about it.

Talk about it.
