Transcript

Welcome,

This is a practice for release,

For loosening the grip,

For letting yourself become weightless,

If only for a little while.

Take a moment to settle in,

Gently allow your eyes to close.

You may be lying down,

Or sitting somewhere comfortable.

Feel your body supported completely by whatever's beneath you.

There's nothing to hold up,

Nothing to push through.

Take one full breath,

Inhale slowly through your nose,

And exhale longer than you think you need to.

Once more,

Inhale,

Feeling the chest and belly gently rise,

And exhale,

Letting your shoulders drop a little further.

Now,

Begin to imagine you're floating.

It might be in warm,

Still water.

It might be in soft,

Weightless air.

There is no gravity here,

No ground beneath you.

Your hands float effortlessly,

Your head feels light,

Your spine is free of pressure.

If thoughts appear,

Let them float too.

No need to follow them,

Just notice them,

And let them drift by like clouds across a gentle sky.

Let go of effort,

Let go of needing to figure it out,

And just for now,

Let go of control.

You may notice your breath naturally slowing.

You don't have to change it,

Just allow it to happen.

Notice the sensation of release spreading,

Through the muscles of the face,

The forehead,

The jaw and the cheeks,

Through the neck and shoulders,

Through the arms and hands.

The back softens,

The chest feels open,

The belly is at ease,

The legs feel loose,

Almost suspended.

There is a great relief in not knowing,

In not having to hold everything together,

In trusting that in this moment,

You are safe.

Imagine a gentle current holding you,

Carrying you.

You don't need to do anything,

You don't need to help it,

It's enough to simply rest here.

Perhaps you can sense an even deeper level of letting go,

As if the edges of your body are dissolving,

Your awareness spreads out into the space around you.

If anything tries to pull you back,

A thought,

A memory,

A plan,

Just notice it,

And place it on a little raft.

See that raft gently drifting away across the surface of this vast calm.

Feel the ease of not carrying,

Not gripping,

Not needing to be anywhere else,

You're safe.

You're allowed to release the tension you've been carrying,

Even if you choose to pick it back up later.

For now,

Be weightless,

Carried,

Held.

Begin to bring gentle awareness back into your body,

Notice your breath,

The rise and fall of your chest,

The feeling of whatever supports you.

Take a slightly deeper inhalation,

And a longer,

Slower exhalation,

And let this feeling of lightness stay with you,

Even as you return to the rest of your day.

And when you're ready,

Slowly open your eyes,

And carry this sense of release forward.

Be gentle with yourself.

I really enjoy this one, Andrew. Thank you. I felt the floating and it was a beautiful, peaceful experience. Then the mind caught the idea of thoughts on rafts and went off on a wandering, wondering why they’d need rafts and what the rafts would be made of - probably not twigs and leaves not being on water, perhaps clouds, perhaps a single drop of water and eventually chose little curled up dragons… For some reason that satisfied it and I came back to the floating! My mind and I enjoyed ourselves and next time it’ll know what to do with the thoughts straight away! Just a thought: I’d love this as a Sleep meditation. Perhaps you might be thinking of an open-ended version of it, with longer music and a fade… 😊🙏💕
