This guided meditation is an invitation to help the listener fall back asleep ... or fall asleep initially too. Sometimes, if we wake up in the middle of the night, or early, the mind can start spinning and make it difficult to fall back asleep. This meditation helps quiet the mind and calm the body so you can drift back off to sleep, or at least get some quality rest, before it's time to wake up.

Transcript

Let yourself settle into a comfortable position,

Making sure that you have the support of the pillows and blankets arranged just right.

Once you feel really settled,

Just gently take some smooth and easy breaths in and smooth and easy breaths out.

And just let any thoughts of needing to fall back asleep just pass through your awareness and shift your intention,

Your goal from getting to sleep to simply resting.

Really setting your intention as to simply rest.

And then continue to gently sense your breath,

Letting your breath be smooth and easy.

Feeling your belly moving with each breath.

Your belly expanding as your breath comes in.

Your belly releasing and softening as you breathe out.

Really sensing your breath as it comes in and sensing your breath as it goes out.

Really relaxing.

And then when you feel ready,

Gently guiding your attention down to your feet,

And begin to really sense your feet,

Feeling any tingling that's present in your feet.

And allowing the weight of your feet to sink down into the support of the bed.

And sensing any warmth you can feel developing in your feet.

Sensing your feet heavy,

Warm,

And completely at ease.

And gently guiding your attention to your legs.

Feeling the weight of your legs to sink down into the support of the bed.

Feeling the complete support underneath your legs.

Sensing in your legs,

Warm,

Spreading out from your feet.

Sensing your legs heavy,

Warm,

And completely at ease.

Sensing your legs heavy,

Warm,

And completely at ease.

And then gently guiding your attention up to your belly.

Sensing your belly,

And how your belly moves gently with each breath.

Your belly soft,

Warm,

And gently moving with each breath.

And each exhale as your belly softens,

Let the weight of your body sink down into the bed.

And each exhale as your belly softens,

Let the weight of your body sink deeper down into the bed.

And each exhale as your belly softens,

Let the weight of your body sink deeper down into the bed.

And each exhale as your belly softens,

Let the weight of your body sink deeper down into the bed.

And you'll feel your whole body completely supported by the bed.
