Let's begin by taking a deep breath in and if you like,
You can stretch by rolling your ankles and wrists or even allowing your shoulders and hips to settle back more deeply into your seat.
This is a reflection called Spirit Body.
We assume vaguely that the spirit and body are connected,
Which implies that they are separate entities brought together for life.
In this we are perpetuating the illusion for spirit and body are not merely connected but are what they are only together.
The body without spirit as we see in death is cold,
Hard,
Unmoving,
Still,
Lifeless,
Blue,
Gray,
A stone.
But have we thought about the spirit without the body?
It is equally as useless.
For the spirit without the body contains all the opposite qualities of the body after death.
And these are similarly without purpose.
The spirit alone is all heat and softness,
Like light without substance,
Constantly moving,
Shooting,
Lying aimlessly,
Without direction,
Orange,
Red,
An endless spark.
There is no way to make a spiritless body move.
It is impossible to make a bodiless spirit still.
Thus body and spirit when together become what they are meant to be.
Alone they are mere potential.
Together they are being.
The legs running after a child over green grass on a spring day.
Body and spirit.
The mind meditating on the breath,
Seeing the circle surrounding us always.
Spirit and body.
The tongue tasting ice cream lift from a cone in midsummer.
Body and spirit.
The soul leaping at the sight of a hummingbird close enough to hear its mild chirping.
Spirit and body.
The body making love,
Feeling heat,
Gathering within and without,
Reaching,
Climate,
Body and spirit.
The heart melting at the news of a parent's death.
Spirit and body.
The eyes reaching out over a canyon,
Blinking at light and color and distance.
The air that makes space possible.
Body and spirit.
The breath sighing at the end of another day,
Painted with gold and ochre skies.
Spirit and body.
What we know we know with our bodies and spirit.
What we feel we feel with our spirit and body.
This is life.
Feel that life within you.
Body and spirit.
Spirit and body.
One beat.
