The purpose of this meditation is to show us how to observe without judgment.

Let's get started by just breathing.

Inhale and exhale.

Inhale and exhale.

Inhale and exhale.

Now we're going to slow down our breathing by inhaling and holding for a count of seven before we exhale.

Inhale and hold.

One,

Two,

Three,

Four,

Five,

Six,

Seven.

Exhale and hold.

One,

Two,

Three,

Four,

Five,

Six,

Seven.

And exhale.

Inhale and hold.

Inhale and hold.

One,

Two,

Three,

Four,

Five,

Six,

Seven.

And exhale.

Every time you exhale,

You're getting more and more relaxed.

You're not sleepy,

Just relax.

Close your eyes and continue breathing regularly.

Imagine you're living in your dream house.

This is the house you've always wanted.

You love everything about this house.

Feel the energy and excitement of it.

You're happy here and it feels good.

You love showing off this beautiful house to your friends and family.

The lawn is beautifully manicured and the house perfectly decorated.

But there's one room in this house that you would never show them.

You've been afraid to look into this room.

You're afraid that what's in this room makes every good thing in your life a lie.

This is the room where you've hidden your judgments,

Secrets,

And every other thing you don't want to look at or show anyone.

Inhale and exhale.

Inhale and exhale.

Each time you exhale,

You're releasing the fear of looking into this room.

Inhale and exhale.

There's a long hallway in front of you and at the end of it is this room.

You're now walking down the hallway towards it.

Inhale and exhale.

The closer you get to the room,

The less fearful it becomes.

Inhale and exhale.

You are now in front of the door and the door is a mirror.

Take a look at yourself.

Take a good look.

What you're seeing is the part of you that is the gatekeeper to this room.

This is the part of you that lives with the fear,

Judgment,

And the self-betrayal.

This is the part of you that you do not show the world.

Inhale and exhale.

You're now trading places with the you that is inside of the mirror.

Now take a good look at the you that is on the outside of the mirror.

What you're now seeing is the part of you that you allow the world to see.

You are seeing the you that is exhausted from projecting an image that is not authentically you.

Inhale and exhale.

Now that you're on the inside of this room,

You can feel the heaviness of all the things you've hidden away in there.

They're all packed away neatly in boxes with labels on them.

Turn around and have a look.

Walk around the room and look at the labels on some of the boxes free of fear and judgment.

Your only responsibility in this moment is to become aware of what is in this room and aware of the feelings that come along with it.

You don't need to open any of the boxes right now,

And you don't need to fix anything in here.

Just take your time and look around.

To your left,

There's a window in this room covered by some heavy curtains.

Walk over to the window and open the curtains all the way.

Notice the light that begins to pour into the room.

This light is so bright that it fills every corner of this room leaving nothing hidden.

This light is your awareness.

This light is removing all heaviness you feel from the contents of this room.

You are no longer trapped by fear,

Guilt,

Or shame regarding anything here.

Now that you've seen what is here,

It's time to make your way back to the entrance of this room.

The mirrored door is now gone.

Walk out of this room taking with you the piece of you that was trapped here.

Inhale and exhale.

Inhale and exhale.

Each time you exhale,

You're releasing any residual heaviness you may have felt from being in this room.

Walk away from this room understanding that there is no need to fear those dark places in your life and there is no rush to fix anything.

We're simply allowing ourselves to be aware of what is there.

Inhale and exhale.

Now begin to bring your awareness back to your body.

Inhale and exhale.

As you come back to awareness,

Revisit the feeling you had when you first envisioned your dream house.

Invite that same feeling of joy and happiness to return to you.

Continue your breathing and stretch if you need to.

Take your time and when you're ready,

Open your eyes.

If you are so inclined,

Now would be a great time to write any thoughts or feelings you have in your journal.

This was so cool. The breathing exercise at the beginning was really effective for me and allowed me to really get into the visualization. I really felt the excitement of my home and hosting friends and family, and then I started sweating and my heart was beating fast as I imagined the room with everything that makes me a "lie." That was powerful for me because I think I try to bypass a lot of that stuff and ignore the shame it brings me, so it was good to actually feel how I feel about all of it and bring it to light. The non-judgement of it will take some more time, but the biggest box in that room was labeled "judgement," so that's not unexpected haha. Thank you!

This was the most unique guided meditation I have come across on Insight Timer. It surprised me when it brought up both thought & emotion connected to an event that happened many years ago. Truly helpful to gain this awareness and feeling lighter for it. Thank-you so much :)

This was really powerful...I’m still tearful. I saw my dream house, I’ve dreamt of it before, it’s on the beach with large windows and a huge white sectional. It’s filled with me and friends (can’t see who, I don’t have many) but we’re laughing, playing guitar and singing. In that dark closet is scared me, so worried about all the times I reacted impulsively in school and business situations that caused me to feel overwhelmed, dysregulated. It takes me days to calm myself back down and then there’s all the collateral damage I’m left with to deal with...strange looks, lack of friends, etc. I journaled its time to start taking care and being kind to myself having the same compassion towards myself as I have for others.
