Are you ready to meditate with Kari?
Lie down and get yourself completely comfortable.
Close your eyes.
It's time to let go of your day.
It's time to relax and get snuggly and cuggly into your bed.
Deep relaxation comes when we feel safe.
Right now you're with me.
You're safe and warm.
You can allow your body to relax.
We're going to go on a very soft,
Gentle,
Relaxing journey.
Using your imagination,
Imagine you're laying on a wonderful,
Sunny beach.
The beach is quiet.
You can hear the birds in the sky making noises once in a while.
But the sound of the waves in the background is what you're really enjoying.
The sound of the ocean coming up onto the beach,
Crashing onto the sand and then pulling back into the sea is one of your favourite noises.
It allows you to relax and be still and quiet.
Feel like you're fully connected to the ocean and all of its magical creatures.
Focus on your feet and imagine,
Really,
Really imagine that instead of feet,
You have mermaids tail or a merman's tail.
Imagine you've come up onto the beach just to lay in the sun for a moment.
Your tail is long.
It's golden green.
And the scales on your tail shimmer in the sunlight,
Reflecting gold and bits of green that look like sparkling jewels in the sun.
Whether you're a mermaid or a merman,
Your hair is long.
And it's wet from the ocean and it feels cool on your back.
It's nice to be on the soft,
Warm sand.
Feels different than being in the deep blue sea.
You can fully relax your body and get warm and cosy for a minute.
Imagine that you have gills like a fish.
They're on your neck and you breathe in and out,
Deep breaths.
That's what allows you to breathe underwater.
You pull in the oxygen from the water through your gills.
You could swim deep down at the bottom of the ocean and just breathe away.
Your eyes have an extra eyelid like lizards and certain fish.
Sometimes when you see a crocodile close its eyes,
It has a layer that rolls over its eyes like a protective layer.
Your eyes are just like that,
Protected from all the different grit and particles under the ocean so that you can see as clear as day with your mermaid or merman sight.
But right now you've got your eyes closed,
Laid on the beach,
Fully relaxed.
You're not too far away from the water.
Sometimes you can feel it lapping up on your muratail.
After a while you know it's time to go back into the sea.
You wait for the water to come high enough.
Turn your body around and swim into the ocean.
The water feels cool all over your body.
Open your eyes as you go under the waves and start to breathe through your fins.
Your tail is strong and powerful so you can swim really,
Really fast.
You feel free in the water.
So quiet.
You glide through the sea quickly and easily,
Swimming past tiny fish,
Corals at the bottom of the ocean,
Rocks.
It doesn't take too long before you get to the shipwreck.
You like the shipwreck,
You like to play in it,
Swim through different parts of the boat.
There's algae and mussels and things growing all over it now.
It's been there a long time.
Seaweed moving around it with the current of the ocean.
There's even corals growing on the inside.
All different colors.
So pretty.
Swimming up and down and around through the windows.
Then you leave the shipwreck behind and keep swimming forward,
Going deeper and deeper.
Further and further away from the shore.
Away from people.
The sand.
Palm trees.
Away from the streets and the houses.
Away from school.
Or work.
Whatever people do there on land.
You're escaping it all.
Leaving it all behind.
Deeper and deeper into the blue ocean.
The deeper you get,
The cooler the water is away from the sun that shines on the top of the sea.
You like it cold.
Makes you feel safe.
It's familiar.
The fish are getting bigger down here.
The deeper you get,
The further away from the shore.
You start to see the big sharks.
The whales.
The giant turtles.
They're all your friends.
You swim next to a whale for a while.
So big.
So vast and long.
Those weigh thousands and thousands of pounds.
In its own way the whale gives you a smile.
You keep swimming.
You find a pool of dolphins and swim with them for a while.
They like to swim closer to the surface,
Up where the water is warm from the sun.
You jump out of the ocean with them.
Dolphins are so fun.
Go in and out of the waves and the ocean.
Up into the sun for a few seconds and then back down below.
Now you're even further away from the beach.
Away from land.
You're getting closer to your home.
Closer to where all the other Mer people live.
Closer and closer to the secret Mer world down below.
You start to see friendly faces.
These are your people.
They're all your friends.
Some of them are family.
They all have different colour hair.
Some of them are blue,
Green,
Brown.
Some are pink and purple.
Some are gold and some are silver.
Everyone has different coloured eyes.
Not just blue or brown or green.
Some people have pink eyes and purple eyes and gold eyes and silver eyes,
Black eyes.
Some people have grey eyes,
Even white eyes.
Mer people are so different.
They're so amazing.
The way that they breathe underwater.
How fast they can swim.
Who wouldn't want to be a Mer person?
Maybe you are a Mer person and you just don't know yet.
Maybe if the whole world was the ocean,
We would all be Mer people.
Mermaids and Merman.
How cool would that be?
We would swim everywhere.
Be friends with all the ocean animals and mammals and fishes.
The deep dark blue ocean probably wouldn't be scary.
Because it's our home.
Swim down here.
You can even sleep down here.
For as long as you like.
You're safe.
Unless you're a mermaid or a merman.
