Allow yourself to settle,
Taking a nice,
Deep,
Cleansing breath in through the nose and out through the mouth.
And again,
Deep breath in through the nose and exhale on a sigh.
As you take another deep breath,
Imagine that every cell in your body is inhaling,
And as you breathe out,
Imagine that every cell is exhaling.
Breathing in,
Every cell in your body is inhaling.
And breathing out,
Every cell in your body is exhaling.
With every inhale,
Bathing the body in fresh oxygen,
With every exhale,
Releasing any tension or stress that has been stuck.
Each breath flowing everything that does not serve you out of the body with a sigh,
Naturally,
So easily.
And now breathe a nice,
Deep breath into the belly and exhale.
Feel the body becoming heavier,
The shoulders relaxing,
The hips sinking into the support beneath you,
The thighs letting go and falling open,
The whole body relaxing and letting go.
And as the body softens,
It naturally signals to the mind that all is well,
That it is okay to just relax.
And so the mind begins to notice that it is safe,
That yes,
In this moment,
All is well.
And so the mind begins to quiet,
Allowing whatever thoughts show up to simply be.
Easing into this moment,
Just following the sound of my voice.
Now imagine that you are standing before a large desk in an empty room.
The desk is covered in fall leaves.
And see if you can imagine these leaves in great detail.
See the colors,
Rich golds and oranges,
Reds and muted browns,
All the beautiful fall colors in this jumble of leaves on the desk.
You notice that some of the leaves are dried and fragile,
Some are so thin that you can see the spine and the vein of the leaf.
Some of the leaves are wide and flat,
Freshly fallen upon the desk in this big empty room.
Intuitively,
You know that all these leaves represent all the busy thoughts in your mind.
These leaves,
Like your thoughts,
Are not you,
And you are not these leaves.
Like your thoughts,
Are not you,
And you are not these leaves.
Still,
They are naturally a part of life,
Easily a part of,
Natural,
But separate from you.
These leaves,
Your thoughts.
You wave your hand over the pile of colorful leaves and watch as the motion stirs the air and some of the leaves lift,
Then flutter gently back down to the desk.
You wave your hand over the pile of leaves on the desk again.
Watch the leaves lift and then float back down.
All these leaves,
All these simple,
Fluttering,
Busy thoughts,
Moved with a light brush of your hand,
Beautiful,
Natural,
A part of you.
Beautiful,
Natural,
A part of life,
But not who you are,
Separate from you.
They are lighter and more inconsequential than you realized,
Just thoughts,
Light and natural as fall leaves.
One more time,
You wave your hand over the pile of leaves on the desk.
Watch them lift and float back down,
Easy nothingness.
Now imagine that beside the desk is a cardboard box.
You lift the box and begin to easily brush the leaves.
It feels so good to brush those random thoughts into the box so easily,
Seeing how clean and beautiful the desk is beneath them.
Brushing all those random thoughts easily into the box,
Clearing the desk,
Feeling relieved and peaceful to fill the box and set it aside,
There for you later if you want it,
But for now,
Enjoying the feeling of the wide open space of that clean,
Beautiful desk.
It feels quiet,
A simple,
Open spaciousness,
A natural stillness.
You brush your hand over the top of the desk and smile at the calm,
Quiet of your mind.
It feels so good,
So natural and easy,
And it's okay to simply slip into sleep now and rest,
The mind quiet and still,
And feel the light of the sun,
The light of the sun,
Slowly slip into sleep now and rest,
The mind quiet and still,
Ready to rest.
