Please begin by invoking that which is and always has been whole in you and in each of us. That which is deathless and always pure. So that some part of you trusts that healing, Wholeness is already present and that practice is merely the process of uncovering that pre-existing wholeness. And in this trust the heart and mind can begin to open, Let go of grasping. And in this trust the heart and mind can begin to open, Let go of grasping. And letting this sense of trust also come into your body. And letting this coming into your body then enable you to feel any places that you feel resistance to your body. Places where you go where something immediately arises in your mind that I'd like to change that, I'd like to replace that with a better feeling. And you be aware of, Very alert to, Whatever it is that begins to separate you from sensation, You from experience arising in the body. Being aware of whatever it is that is predominating physically. It may be an emotion that's being experienced in the body. It may be having a physical cause from illness or injury. It may be something that's moving around changing from moment to moment. And when you do notice any holding or tension or deadness in your resistance or clinging in your body, Can you begin now to meet it with a soft, Spacious, Heartfelt awareness. Letting the very places of tension be that which tunes you more skillfully and subtly to an open heart. Sense floating easily in the vast sky of heart, Changing every moment. And as the heart becomes more and more vast and open, There is less a sense of an I who is experiencing. Just sensation arising, Meeting sensation with a lessening need to label it. It's floating in this ocean of sensation, The sky of sensation, Vast, Open. And in that opening then at times arises a sense of empowerment. Not that you as a separate being is empowered, But that that which was invoked in the beginning, That sense of wholeness, That sense of unity is experienced moment to moment as your nature. No resistance allowing who you are to be fully with each moment. The content, The difference of content from moment to moment becoming less important. Being with that easy, Accepting, Very, Very spacious relationship with experience. So that finally whatever it is that arises, We can look clearly at it, See its nature, Rest there. Rest in this underlying quality moment to moment. No effort, No one meditating, Nothing to accomplish. Whether we call this presence or love or awareness or consciousness, This very beautiful meeting of experience with awareness. Each instant, Nothing solid, Everything changing. If there is again a place in your body that calls you back, Listen to that call, Be with those sensations. And if you get caught in labeling and understanding and wondering, You can still just dissolve back into this vast spaciousness of mind, Trusting this presence. Everything that arises can ever separate us from this truth. Even though our minds might forget, This presence is inherent in each experience. It can never be lost. Vibrating in each cell in your body, In each sound, In each thought. Whenever effort arises, Notice that and come back to this trusting, Trusting of openness. And then dedicating our practice with the wish that all beings may find peace, May find joy, May find freedom. May all beings realize their inherent wholeness and may we each practice to become a force for that healing as we move through our lives.

A simple, spoken word meditation ideal for those times when we carry physical or emotional pain into our meditation practice. I found it helpful for disconnecting from the struggle with pain (vs. directly with the pain itself), which left me with an immediate sense of greater well-being and diminished discomfort. I anticipate returning to this meditation fairly regularly; it is very helpful.
