Thanks for joining me today.
We're going on a fun trip together for the next 10 minutes and the only thing you have to do is use your imagination.
This is a great way to feel better if you're sad or angry or if you feel like you just need a little break in a special place that's all yours.
When you're ready,
Gently close your eyes and take a great big breath in through your nose and then breathe out slowly through your mouth.
Let's do that again.
Take a big breath all the way in through your nose and then breathe out slowly through your mouth.
This will help relax you and calm you.
And now I want you to use your imagination and picture yourself in a beautiful forest with tall green trees all around you.
Those trees are here to protect you and keep you safe.
The sun is shining,
The sky is bright blue and you can hear all kinds of birds singing.
Listen to those birds and try to hear their songs.
There's a cool breeze blowing that you can feel on your cheeks and you can smell flowers that remind you of perfume.
Take a deep breath in and smell the fresh air of this special forest in your imagination.
Now as you look around in your mind with your eyes closed,
Imagine that you see a path that goes through the forest and you approach it and start to walk along the path.
The ground feels soft under your feet and makes you comfortable.
You continue to walk farther into the forest,
Feeling completely safe and all of a sudden you see a big clear lake.
As you approach the lake,
You see that the water is so clear that you can see all kinds of friendly fish swimming and playing.
Then you notice a bench next to the lake and it looks cool and comfy,
So you sit down on it and relax to watch the fish.
As you do this,
You can feel the warm sun on your skin and it feels great and relaxing.
And since we are in your imagination,
We can make anything happen.
So as you're sitting watching the fish,
Pretend that you see a friendly magical dragon swim out of the water and up to the shore.
It's small,
About the size of a little cat,
And has shimmery,
Shiny,
Colorful scales.
As it looks up at you,
You see that it has big friendly eyes and it smiles at you.
All of a sudden it flies high up into the air,
Spreads its wings,
And then swoops down and lands on the bench right next to you.
You know that it wants you to pet it,
So you do.
You can't believe how much softer it feels than you thought it would.
As you continue to pet it,
It settles down with its head up against you and relaxes.
It loves the way you're petting it,
So calmly and gently.
So while you sit with the friendly dragon,
Let's take some deep breaths together.
When I say to begin,
I'd like you to breathe all the way in slowly through your nose,
And then hold your breath as we count to four,
And then breathe out slowly through your mouth.
Let's do this together,
And let's begin.
Breathe in through your nose,
Hold it for one,
Two,
Three,
Four,
And breathe out slowly through your mouth.
Your new friendly dragon is doing the same thing as you.
Breathing in,
Holding it,
And letting it out.
It likes to do this breathing game with you.
Let's do this two more times.
Ready?
Breathe in,
Hold it,
One,
Two,
Three,
Four,
And breathe out through your mouth.
Good job.
Once more.
Breathe in,
Hold it,
One,
Two,
Three,
Four,
And breathe out through your mouth nice and slowly.
And now let's do two more breaths,
But a little differently than we did before.
This time,
When I say to begin,
Imagine breathing different colors.
When you breathe in,
Imagine breathing in a beautiful blue color,
Which makes you feel really calm,
And when you breathe out,
Pretend that you are a dragon and breathe out bright orange color like a flame.
And as you breathe out,
Let that orange flame get rid of any bad feelings you have,
Any worry,
Any anxiety or sadness or anger.
Let's begin.
Breathe in a nice blue color and breathe out bright orange like a dragon's flame.
Good job.
Now I want to use the color green,
So for the next breath,
I'd like you to breathe in and imagine a bright,
Bright,
Light green color,
Making you feel happy and healthy.
And when you breathe out,
Imagine another color green,
One that's dark,
Dark green in color like a pine tree forest,
But it also makes you feel very peaceful.
So we're going to breathe in light,
Bright green and breathe out dark,
Calming green.
Let's begin.
Breathe in nice bright green and breathe out dark pine colored green like a calming forest.
Great.
Now take a few more deep breaths in and out,
Just normally.
And as you do,
Give your fingers and toes a gentle wiggle.
And when you're ready,
You can slowly open your eyes.
Remember the fun place that you visited today,
The forest and the lake and the bench with the dragon.
And know that you can come back here anytime you need a break.
