This is a special offering to help you connect to what is most meaningful and important to you in this December season.
As we celebrate holidays,
Prepare ourselves and our families for events and gatherings,
This is an opportunity to get clear on what makes this season meaningful and significant to you and to find your peace and wisdom within.
This season can feel like a study of opposites.
It's both busy and demanding but also quiet in that winter kind of way and a call and a draw to go inward to your inner light.
So let us not fight these two calls.
Let us meet the needs of this moment with presence and give our systems time for the quiet and inward pull that winter asks of us.
Just as the squirrels,
The bears,
The frogs,
And the fishes go inward for more slumber,
They slow down their metabolism.
This is a time of quiet,
Inner calm,
Inner peace for many of our animal friends and our plant friends as well as the trees have released their leaves and they go inward to nourish their roots.
Now you may enjoy doing this meditation in the quiet with your eyes closed or you may enjoy doing it while your hands are working,
Maybe doing laundry or washing dishes.
Sometimes when our hands work,
Our minds can settle and our hearts speak to us more clearly.
So whatever works best for you and your system is welcome here.
So allow your eyes to close or just the shades of your eyes so that you can feel yourself tuning inward.
Allow yourself to become aware of the world behind your eyes,
A world as vast and expansive as the world outside.
And as you breathe on your inhale,
Welcome in fresh,
Crisp winter air clearing and moving.
On your exhale,
Release.
Release anything you no longer need or that isn't helpful for you in this moment.
Feel whatever you're releasing traveling down and going into the earth beneath your feet where the earth will compost it.
It may turn it into flowers in the spring.
Now,
As you continue breathing,
Ask yourself without forcing,
Just being open,
What do I desire this season?
What do I want to feel more of?
What is calling for my attention,
My care,
And my presence?
Allow any answers to come to you softly.
They might be feelings,
Words,
Or a picture.
Now,
Bring your awareness to your chest space,
Your ribs,
Your lungs,
And underneath your beating heart.
Just be with your heart for a moment.
Maybe you place your hand there.
Your heart is so constant,
Continuously pumping,
Beating,
Creating the thumping background backdrop of your aliveness.
Imagine that as you see your heart,
As it beats in your chest,
You also see a small light that glows there.
Notice what it looks like.
What is its color?
Is it like a warm ember or a soft lantern flame?
Does it look like the twinkle of winter lights?
With each inhale,
Allow your light to brighten,
And on the exhale,
Let it expand.
Feel its warmth as it grows,
Spreading from your chest into your ribs,
Over your shoulders,
Down your arms,
And all the way to your hands.
Feel your hands heating with its warmth.
Let the warm golden light flow up through your throat,
Your face,
Up through your mind,
Softening,
Calming,
Clearing,
And illuminating.
And then feel it traveling downward as well,
Down over your solar plexus,
Through your belly,
Your pelvis,
Your legs and your feet,
And feel yourself sharing your inner light with the earth.
You may even see your light meet the earth's in a beautiful collaboration.
This is you.
This is your inner lantern,
Your heart light,
This place of truth,
Aliveness,
Deep care,
Presence.
Just rest here.
Feel this.
Feel yourself gently glowing from the inside.
Now,
Continuing to feel your light,
Bring to your mind a current question,
A situation,
A challenge.
It may be something in that busyness of this time of year,
Something that's been important to you,
Something that's been weighing on you.
No need to analyze.
It might be just a feeling.
Allow yourself to hold it gently like you're placing it in your palms and offer it to your heart light.
Imagine you're laying it down at the entrance to your heart,
Laying it down to say,
Hi,
Could you help me with this?
Could you support me in this?
Could you be with me in this?
And let your inner lantern meet it.
Let it surround it with warmth,
Illumination,
Compassion.
And now you can ask heart,
Heart light,
What wisdom do you have for me?
What would be helpful for me to see or feel here?
What might be my next small step?
Just listen and feel.
Allow impressions,
Sensations,
Pictures,
Words,
Images,
Or any simple knowing arise in whatever time they take.
Your job is to breathe in and receive anything that comes in any form.
Be with us for a few moments.
Allow yourself to be in both your wise inner lantern and also the real questions of your life.
Practical and profound.
They live within you always.
Take one more full breath in.
As you exhale,
Thank your heart light for showing itself to you.
Allow it to settle now,
Returning to a steady warm glow inside you.
Know you can return to this inner lantern at any moment in stillness or in motion,
In clarity or in confusion.
It's always here and it's always ready to guide you.
When you're ready,
Come on back.
Wiggle your fingers and your toes.
Feel the ground beneath you.
Bring a hand to your heart.
Honor all the work you just did.
Thank yourself for showing up here today and for becoming aware of your inner light and what it wants to show you and what it feels like inside of you.
This is yours.
