Patanjali's 7th Sutra,
In the 2nd chapter,
Is Sukaha Anusayi Rāgaha.
It means Attachment stems from Pleasure.
Sukha is delight or sweetness and Rāgaha is the close attachment we feel toward it.
What happens is that dwelling on pleasurable experiences ignites desire.
These experiences generate greater craving as we begin wanting more and more.
We become absorbed in the pursuit of gratification and slowly the mind becomes dependent on sensory gratification.
The danger is that as we become caught up in the pursuit of pleasure,
We risk forgetting our chosen path.
When we allow ourselves to be consumed by these cravings,
The mind gradually becomes restless.
To practice yoga is to enjoy the sweetness of life without being caught in its grip.
We learn to observe the pleasure,
Appreciate it as it arises and let it go as it passes.
By maintaining this awareness,
We ensure that the pursuit of delight does not disturb the steady ground of our practice.
Practice helps us stay steady and awake.
