Mindfulness practice seven,
Expanding your light,
Connecting with community.
Get comfortable in a seated position.
Breathe.
With your eyes closed or gaze down,
Focus on your inhales and exhales.
Let go of any distractions that come into your awareness.
When you're ready,
Imagine your inner light wherever you find it within you.
You may feel it in your chest,
Your gut,
Your head,
Or somewhere else.
Breathe into it.
Imagine it grows brighter and expands on your inhales and settles and becomes more powerful on your exhales.
Continue with this process for several cycles of breath.
Then allow your inner light to grow with each breath.
Allow it to get so big it expands beyond your physical body.
Imagine that its rays extend so far as to reach the walls of the room you are in.
And as you continue to breathe,
The rays of your inner light breach the walls and extend to the edges of the building you're in.
And then they surpass the building and extend out to the community beyond.
Stay here for a moment.
Keep breathing.
Recognize that you are so much bigger than the body you inhabit.
And as you continue to breathe from this expanded space,
Imagine that other people in your community are also much bigger than the bodies they inhabit.
Their rays of light extend beyond their bodies just as your rays extend beyond yours.
And know that there is enough space in the universe for every single person's light.
And although you are a unique manifestation of light,
There is a connection between every living being.
We all have that light inside us,
Whether we are aware of it or not.
We are connected.
As you bring your rays back into your building and back into the room you are in and back into your body,
Continue to be aware that our expanded awareness,
That expanded connection to others is always available to you.
You can grow your inner light whenever you choose.
Stay for a moment focusing on your inner light that is inside your body.
Breathe into it.
It too is always accessible to you.
When you're ready,
Take another deep breath and flutter your eyes open if they are closed.
Stretch your body and take a moment to transition your focus back into the room.
Welcome back.
