Beautiful mum-to-be, this meditation is designed to help you relax, connect with your baby, and prepare for a beautiful birth through visualisation. You can use this session throughout your pregnancy and even into labour.

Take your time to find a comfortable space to rest.

Allow yourself to relax deeply.

Be aware of the space around you,

The sounds around you.

Imagine being aware of the sounds within yourself.

Now bring to your mind your intention,

Your intention for the birth you wish to have or an empowering positive affirmation.

Repeat it now,

Silently,

Three times.

Feel your intention ripple out to the other edges of the universe.

And now,

Drawing your attention to the body once more.

Feeling the presence of the body on the earth.

We will systematically move our awareness around the body and as a body part is mentioned,

Slowly repeat the name of the body part and simultaneously feel it relax.

Beginning by bringing your attention to the right hand thumb,

The index finger,

Middle finger,

Ring finger,

Little finger,

The palm of the hand,

The back of the hand,

The wrist,

The forearm,

Elbow,

Upper arm,

Shoulder,

Armpit,

Shoulder,

Shoulder,

Shoulder,

Shoulder,

The right side of the chest,

The waist,

Hip,

Thigh,

Knee,

Shoulder,

Elbow,

Shoulder,

Elbow,

Lower leg,

Ankle,

The sole of the foot,

The top of the foot,

Right big toe,

Second toe,

Third toe,

Fourth and fifth.

Be aware of the whole of the right side of the body.

Now bring the awareness to the left hand thumb,

The index finger,

Middle finger,

Ring finger,

Middle finger,

The palm of the hand,

The back of the hand,

The wrist,

Forearm,

Elbow,

Shoulder,

Elbow,

Upper arm,

Shoulder,

Armpit,

The left side of the chest,

The waist,

The sole of the foot,

The top of the foot,

Left hand,

With the entire left side of the body.

Now drawing your attention into both heels,

Calves,

Backs of the knees,

Backs of the thighs,

Buttocks,

Lower back,

Middle back,

The upper back and shoulder blades,

Back of the neck,

Back of the head,

The crown of the head,

Forehead,

Right eyebrow,

Left eyebrow,

Eyebrow centre,

Right temple,

Left temple,

Right ear,

Left ear,

Right cheek,

Left cheek,

Right eye,

Left eye,

Left eye,

The bridge of the nose,

The tip of the nose,

Right nostril,

Left nostril,

Upper lip,

Lower lip,

The place where the tulips touch,

The teeth,

The tongue,

The jaw,

The throat,

The collar bones,

Right rib cage,

Left rib cage,

Diaphragm,

Abdomen,

The upper rib,

Navel centre,

The whole of the pelvic floor,

Vagina,

Cervix,

The womb,

The whole of the pelvic floor,

The whole of the right leg,

The whole of the left leg,

Both legs together,

The whole of the right arm,

The whole of the left arm,

Both arms together,

The torso,

The neck,

The head,

The whole of the body,

The whole of the body,

The whole of the body,

Be aware of the whole of the body at once.

From this awareness of the whole of the body now fine tune your awareness to only the breath and only the breath within the nostrils.

Be aware of the touch of the breath,

Observing everything about the breath,

Yet without judging.

Let the breath be spontaneous and natural.

Feel yourself relax deeply.

Start by observing the breath and now once again be aware of the whole of the body,

In particular the parts of the body that are in contact of the floor and take some time to bring about a sense of heaviness through the body.

Feel the parts of the body that are in contact with the floor being pressed with gravity into the earth,

Your whole body heavy.

Arms and legs as if you could barely lift them.

Let a feeling of heaviness overcome your body completely and then shifting your attention to a feeling of lightness,

Lightness through the body,

So that now the points of contact that your body has with the floor are so light and open it may feel like you are hovering above the earth and now feels like the arms and legs might float up towards the ceiling,

Lightness through the whole of the body.

Feeling with this feeling of lightness,

Feel almost a cushion of air underneath the body,

Perhaps even a thermal supporting you,

Lifting you up.

Feeling in this feeling of lightness,

Greater openness,

Letting all boundaries dissolve.

Feel yourself become a wide open like the sky and in this openness sense the interconnectedness between all beings.

Feel the space around you,

Not as a medium of separation but rather the air as a medium of connection connecting you to all things and to all beings.

This interconnectedness is most obvious to you now as a mother,

Your baby in your womb.

Intimately connected,

Feel yourself blending and merging,

Uniting and becoming one.

Come to a place where there is no mother,

There is no child,

Simply two equals meeting on a journey through life.

Allow a graceful ease to pour through your entire being and let this ease now unfold as a birth plan.

You can let your resolve,

Your intention now play as a movie on the screen of your mind.

Perhaps this process of giving birth is a two way experience,

Now may be a time to check in with your baby.

Keep a congruent birth plan together and let that fill your mind now.

Let that fill both your hearts right now.

Let the vision be rich and real.

Let your ideal birth play out from beginning to end.

Where do you want to be?

See your surroundings.

Who do you want around you?

Feel the support that they give you.

See yourself as if looking in a mirror as you move through the birthing process.

Bringing with you grace and ease.

See the moment of birth,

Your baby's first breath and find a natural conclusion to your vision.

Perhaps swaddling your baby in your arms.

See the love,

The joy.

Feel this love as you gaze into their eyes for the very first time.

Let this outpouring of pure,

Unconditional love be not only for this baby in your arms,

This baby in your belly,

But for all beings.

Remembering the interconnectedness of all beings.

Share this love out into the world.

And as you radiate this love and compassion out,

Make a heartful wish that all beings experience happiness.

And as your offering,

As your wish pours out into the world,

See how it builds a more beautiful world for your baby to live in.
