This New Year meditation offers a gentle threshold between what has been and what is becoming. Participants are guided to reflect on the past year with honesty and compassion—acknowledging moments of growth, grief, effort, and surprise—without judgment or repair. Through breath and body awareness, the practice invites release: loosening what no longer needs to be carried, setting down expectations, regrets, and unfinished narratives. From this clearing, attention turns toward the year ahead—not as a list of goals, but as a field of possibility. Participants are invited to listen inwardly for qualities they wish to cultivate, values they want to live from, and intentions that feel spacious rather than demanding. The meditation closes by anchoring openness and presence, welcoming the new year not as something to conquer, but as a relationship to enter with curiosity, courage, and care.

Transcript

Deep breath in,

Slow breath out.

Settling in and letting go at the same time.

Listening.

Noises,

Small and large,

Sounds and music around you.

Feeling cold,

Warm sensations inside or outside.

And continuing to deepen your breath in,

Slow your breath out as you come into stillness and quiet.

Drawing to mind all the thoughts and sensations,

Feelings and spirits of the year that was.

What comes up for you?

Images,

Words,

Sensations,

Dreams.

What was?

Some things precious,

Some things to let go of.

Just feeling it all.

Letting it come up,

Letting it drift off.

Good,

Bad,

Neutral.

Regrets,

Excitements,

Positive,

Negative,

All moving in the past,

Nearly distant history.

Deeply,

Breathing in deeply,

Out slowly.

You might exhale on the word cella.

Cella,

Between the ears.

Looking ahead.

What's to come?

Fear,

Anxiety,

Excitement,

Eagerness.

Risk or subtlety.

Being open as it will reveal itself.

Neither rushing nor standing still,

Just gently prepared for what comes.

Blessing and challenge ahead.

Breathe into the year to come with all of its mystery and majesty.

Exciting surprises and even some disappointments.

The ungiven future to be revealed.

All for you to accept with blessings.
