Hello and welcome.

My name is Laura,

And this is the introduction to the Mindful Minute.

I've put together a series of 30 separate recordings,

Each only about a minute or so,

And they will discuss concepts,

Breathing techniques,

And mindfulness practices.

These are great for someone who is just starting a meditation and mindfulness practice.

They're also great for someone looking for a little snippet to interweave throughout their day.

Each will just introduce the concept or idea.

You're welcome to continue the practice beyond the minute or come back and revisit it as many times as you'd like.

We'll start day one with talking about the breath itself.

Go ahead and find a comfortable seat or you're welcome to do this lying down,

Soften your gaze,

Or allow your eyes to close.

The breath is our vital life force.

It is the best place to begin a mindfulness and meditation practice.

It allows us somewhere to anchor ourselves.

So today I'd just like to talk about some qualities of the breath.

And as you sit or lie here breathing your natural breath,

I encourage you to just think about these qualities.

Allow the breath to be deep.

It naturally will deepen as your body begins to relax and soften.

You don't even need to try.

Allow the breath to be smooth.

Allow it to flow in and out of the nose without pause,

Uninterrupted.

Allow the breath to be even,

And allow the breath to be quiet and soft without sound.

Deep,

Smooth,

Even,

Quiet,

And without interruption.

Continue this practice as long as you'd like and have a wonderful day.
