This session is designed to help those who suffer from the manifestation of anxiety-like energies in their physical bodies. This energy can cause physical and mental distress (e.g. anxiety and restlessness). This practice will demonstrate how to use this energy for good; grounding and centering you during times of high stress and anxiety.

Hello,

And welcome to another Hammer Mountain mindfulness session.

Today's session will focus on the use of excess energy that we may have that makes us feel restless,

Anxious,

Nervous,

Or out of balance.

There are many reasons why we may feel this way,

And why this excess energy is causing us to feel this way.

Today we will practice recognizing that feeling and using that energy to ground ourselves,

To connect with the earth,

And use it for good.

Let's start by taking a few deep breaths in and out.

In and out.

In.

Out.

In and out.

Take a moment to connect with yourself,

Once you have a connection established.

Think about the excess energy that we are carrying,

Causing us to feel anxious,

Nervous,

Out of balance,

Unlike ourselves.

It may manifest in your stomach,

Causing nausea,

Cramping,

And anxiety.

Recognize when you are feeling this way,

And take a moment to center yourself.

Breathe in,

Breathe out.

Wherever you may be,

When you experience this,

Center yourself by focusing on your breath,

And then imagine that energy shooting down through the soles of your feet or your root chakra,

Entering the earth,

Gripping it like the roots of a tree,

Extending deeper and deeper into the soil,

Into the earth,

Solidifying that connection.

As you feel and imagine the energy draining out of where you hold it in your physical body,

Down through your legs,

Out the soles of your feet,

Into the earth,

Feel that connection,

Feel that strong-rooted connection.

You have now used this energy for good,

Connecting you with the earth,

Grounding you in this moment,

And centering yourself.

Once you feel as though all of the energy causing you angst,

Anxiety,

And imbalance has left your body and is now a part of this expansive root system connecting you to the earth,

Focus on your breath.

Once you feel calm and balanced,

Bring your sense of awareness back to your surroundings,

And slowly open your eyes.

Once you feel ready to move forward with your day,

Your moment,

Your task,

Thank yourself for having done this and remind yourself that you can use this tool and practice this transmutation of energy that once caused you angst,

Anxiety,

And imbalance has now connected you with the earth and grounded you in that moment.

And recall that feeling and practice this the next time you may be in a similar situation.
