The intent of this session is to relax the mind by way of a visualization while at the same time bolstering your sense of being and groundedness.
This is a very simple exercise.
There's no need to overthink it.
Simply listen while you let go.
You may wish to close your eyes,
Or if you prefer,
Keep them open while maintaining a comfortable,
Defocused,
Soft gaze.
This session works best when your feet are planted flatly against the floor.
So you can be sitting or standing.
Either way,
Be sure your back is upright,
Taking a comfortable posture,
And not too rigid.
If you're standing,
Be sure to bend your knees ever so slightly and keep your feet about shoulder-width apart.
Now,
You're settling into position,
Your spinal column is upright but relaxed,
Your feet are flat against the floor,
And you're feeling comfortable.
It helps to place your focus on your breath so that your attention doesn't drift off into everyday thoughts.
Allow yourself to let go and relax.
If you find your attention becoming swept up in thought,
Simply bring your awareness back to the breath.
Let's take two deep breaths and breathe in all the way down to the abdomen.
Inhale and exhale.
And once more,
Breathe in deeply and release.
Consider your position once again and feel the muscles in your body relax.
Your posture is upright yet comfortable.
Notice any tension in your upper body and simply release it.
Just continue breathing at your normal rhythm in this relaxed state.
Picture in your mind's eye an oak tree that stands by itself on the top of a green,
Grassy knoll.
The summertime afternoon breeze has its dangling Spanish moss swaying and its leaves cheerfully dancing.
The trunk has a solid and massive circumference and the bark is thickly textured having a brownish gray color.
We can only imagine its root structure permeating deep and wide into the earth's soil,
Ensuring that it endures all seasons.
As you're imagining this majestic tree,
Feel your feet flat against the hard surface and imagine just like the oak tree that your roots are planted deep into the earth.
Your feet are firmly planted on the ground.
Feel the current of the earth's energy rising up all the way through your entire body.
This current is providing you with a sense of stability and strength and energy.
Take a few moments to appreciate and sense this groundedness.
Allow all this positive,
Natural energy to relax and rejuvenate your mind and body.
You're feeling grounded,
Connected,
And refreshed.
You have a renewed sense of being,
Strength,
And stability.
At any time,
You can return to this safe and comfortable place.
