Hello beautiful souls,
This is June Bee and welcome to a beautiful night's sleep.
Thanks for being here for another in the series Bedtime Tales with June Bee.
Join me as I revel in the fun we can have in the rain and explore all the things we will discover on our journey to sleep.
So let's get into your favourite sleeping position,
Make sure you're comfortable,
Close your eyes,
Relax your muscles and slowly imagine yourself melting into the bed.
Now let's go to your breathing,
Slowing down the heart rate and let's take some nourishing breaths together.
Breathe in,
Breathe out,
Breathe in,
Breathe out,
Breathe in,
Breathe out,
Breathe in,
Breathe out,
Breathe in,
Breathe out,
Last time breathe in,
Breathe out.
It is summer in the UK and it has been a glorious one.
The heat has been relentless and it even feels as if we are in another country.
Lashings of heat from midday until the early evening before it relents.
Oh I think all those people who booked holidays abroad are regretting it now as we have even hotter temperatures than some places in Europe.
I am loving this weather as I always prefer to be in the hot hot hot rather than cold.
Looking up and feeling the Sun kiss my face with such a peaceful and calming feeling.
One I revel in often.
I've always found that the Sun brings its own joy and happiness to every situation.
There are people here in the UK that suffer from a condition called SAD,
S-A-D,
Seasonal Affective Disorder.
It is a kind of depression that touches people in the winter or in the darker times of the year.
It causes them to have a low mood and not much interest in life.
As the name implies that is very sad.
Now on the flip side the Sun apart from bringing such glorious light and warmth to the planet,
There's also recognized health benefits of being in the Sun.
Sunlight is essential for human health and well-being.
It is unsurpassed in the production of vitamin D,
Supporting bone health and lowering blood pressure.
So if you needed any reason to sit in the sunshine with your sunscreen on of course,
Here it is.
Lastly the sunshine is amazing at promoting good mental health.
In other words we are happier the more the Sun shines.
It brings me so much joy as I'm sitting in the garden and enjoying the heat.
Then,
Oh my,
It starts to rain.
It has started slowly.
A little tip,
A little tap,
A little drip,
A little drop.
Looking up,
Thinking to myself,
Oh this will blow over soon.
Fat chance.
Tip,
Tap,
Drip,
Drop.
Tip,
Tap,
Drip,
Drop.
Tip,
Tap,
Drip,
Drop.
Tip,
Tap,
Drip,
Drop.
Getting faster and more intense now.
On my face,
Bouncing off my nose and running down my forehead to boot.
Then turning into fat drops that are round and heavy,
Moving slowly from in the clouds and then straight down to the ground in one faint swoop.
Now without much warning,
In a few short minutes it is bucketing it down and the place is completely flooded.
Water coming down so hard that the drops are bouncing off the ground and splashing everywhere.
Like little explosions of water that are clear and iridescent to look at and warm and slidy to the touch.
Now I have to admit the only thing I like more than the warm flush of a hot summer's day on my cheeks as I look toward the sky is the beautiful sight,
Sound and feeling of rain pelting down on the ground and on the rooftops all around.
It sounds like music to my ears.
An orchestra of taps that culminate in the musical masterpiece called The Rain.
Can you hear it now?
Can you imagine all those individual drops falling to the ground,
Splashing as far and as wide as they can and you being able to see each and every one of them?
Imagine the sea now.
Since I have known myself I always remember the old-fashioned saying from the UK that you should dress for four seasons in one day.
It is so true.
You never know when the skies will open and all the water that is sitting in those heavy laden clouds will fall right out.
Now of course it is nourishing the earth and boy after those weeks of pure undiluted heat it really needs it.
The grass and the bushes are suddenly taking on a new and bright shade of green,
Glistening with every drop that the water seems to be cleaning the old green off and making a whole new garden look brand new.
Oh my,
What a transformation in the space of only a few simple moments.
Can you hear it?
The pitter-patter of the rain?
Can you imagine it?
Can you see yourself sitting in the garden chair and being completely drenched with buckets and buckets of water pouring out of the sky?
I know,
I know,
I'm still sitting here.
I am soaked from tip to toe and it feels great.
The water was a shock to the system at first.
It was not cold,
It was wet.
Now it is warm.
It is like when you first go into the sea at the beach and the water is cool at first then when you get into it,
It seems to slip all over you and become like a warm and soothing blanket.
This is like one of those moments when you must be in the present moment to enjoy it or else you'll be trying to avoid the sensation of being here and being wet.
So I want to ask you this question as we go through this experience together.
Would you enjoy the rain or would you run from it?
I would normally enjoy watching it from inside although right now I'm in it and I'm enjoying being totally soaked and laughing at myself at this moment.
So as I enjoy being in the rain and know how lucky I am to be here and be able to enjoy this special time with you all.
Okay,
Time to get inside and have a shower and a hot toddy before relaxing for the rest of the evening.
I'm not sure about you,
I'm getting sleepy even thinking about it so I'm ready to let go fully and surrender to sleep.
Thanks for joining me tonight and as you slowly drift away have yourself a great night's sleep and looking forward to seeing you again for another in the series of Bedtime Tales with Joon B.
Good night.
