I'll invite you now to find a posture where you'll feel comfortable for about the next five minutes or so.
You might choose to be seated on a chair or on the floor,
Or standing up,
Lying down,
Or even walking.
Once you arrive,
If it feels comfortable to do so,
Take in a couple of big,
Deep,
Full breaths in through your nose and out through your mouth.
Good.
One more,
Breathing in.
And as you exhale,
See if you can relax your jaw and your shoulders,
Settling down into whatever surface is supporting you right now.
Today we're going to experience the grounding presence of gravity.
So I'll invite you to bring your attention to wherever your body is being supported on a surface below you.
If you're sitting down,
You might notice how your seat is rested on the chair.
You might feel your feet resting on the ground.
And notice your hands wherever they are,
Just resting softly.
If you're lying on your back,
You might feel where your back is coming into contact with the surface.
Or if you're standing,
You might focus on your feet.
And wherever you are,
See if you can bring your attention to those touch points that are coming into contact with the surface.
And see if you can really sense into the gentle pull of gravity.
You might see if you can notice a sense of pressure or heaviness.
You might also notice a texture,
If your seat is firm or soft.
You might notice where your hands are resting,
What texture is there,
If it's smooth or rough.
And just feel the weight of your whole body being gently held here.
If you'd like,
You can bring in a little bit of awareness of your breathing and focus with each exhale on relaxing your body a little bit more into the force of gravity.
There might be a sense that whatever surface is supporting your body right now is trustworthy,
Sturdy and reliable,
Despite anything else that might be going on in your life.
Seeing if you can find a sense of trust in gravity.
Breathing out,
Feeling where your body is coming into contact with the surface.
And notice how you're gently held.
