My love,
You have done a beautiful job today tending to your children.
Whether it was messy,
Loud and chaotic or whether it was full of ease and sunshine and perfectly laid plans,
It is important that you know you have done a beautiful job today.
I see you here in this moment.
Whether you feel tired to your bones,
Unable to string your words together or maybe you have completely lost yourself in it all today,
I see you here in this moment.
Whether you feel like today you really embodied the kind of woman and mother you desire most,
Alive,
Happy and present with her children.
I see you here in this moment and it is so important that you know you have done a beautiful job today.
Whether there are still dishes in the sink,
Laundry taking up space in all the wrong places or you haven't had a moment to shower today,
I honor you in this moment.
Whether you have put the children to bed with ease,
Your kitchen is squeaky clean,
Your diffuser is on and you have snuggled in for the night,
I honor you in this moment.
Whether your meditation practice this evening has been chosen in a desperate act to feel yourself again or whether you have consciously chosen to tend to yourself,
I honor you.
You are not alone.
What you do each day matters.
It is important that you know today you have done a beautiful job.
But dear mama,
Your children need you to matter to you too.
It's time to return to you now,
Your body,
Your heart,
Separate from your children.
A beautiful,
Whole and complete woman.
It is safe to create intimacy with yourself here.
Our children learn to love themselves as they witness us,
Their mothers,
Love ourselves.
The fact you feel tired,
Burnt out,
Undernourished and overworked at times does not mean you are inadequate.
Modern day motherhood can feel a lot.
It is messy by nature and it is unsustainable if,
If we are not willing to tend to our own needs.
It requires an honoring of the woman,
Of you.
Taking a deep breath in through the nose now.
Filling your stomach and notice your belly as it fills with air and exhale out your open mouth.
Noticing the subtlety of the air enter through your nose once again.
Filling your belly and escaping out your open mouth.
Allowing yourself to arrive now.
Allowing the day to slip away.
Allowing the to do list to dissipate.
And allowing your breath to find its natural rhythm.
I know you have given of yourself so much today.
Your time,
Your attention,
Your loving presence,
Your assistance.
You have no doubt tended to the needs of your family from the moment you opened your eyes this morning.
Maybe you have fed your child from your breast,
Packed lunch boxes,
Prepared meals that possibly went uneaten,
Cared for a bruised knee,
Played make believe,
Prepared more snacks.
Maybe you dropped off and picked up,
Worked a full day out in the world,
Been to sports games,
Cheered from the sideline and smothered your children in love freely,
Without question,
Because you are a mother.
And it is your nature to give of yourself to your children and your life together in this way.
The perpetual act of giving and at times self-sacrificing in honour of your role as a mother can and will eventually leave you as a woman disconnected,
Depleted and exhausted.
It is here in the quiet of the evening,
At the end of your day,
I invite you to call everything you have given of yourself back to you now.
It is here in the stillness with just you and your breath and an awareness of your whole being that you can begin to call the life force back into your body.
Begin by bringing to mind your day from first light and all of the colours in between.
Notice where your energy went,
Where your time went.
Notice your mood,
Emotions,
Your feelings.
Simply noticing it all without judgement or concern.
Bringing it all into your awareness now.
With your next deep inhale,
Begin to imagine a beautiful golden white light starting to emerge from the centre of everything you are holding in your mind's eye.
Allowing space and distance to blow open between you.
This light you see,
This light you feel is your energy.
It is your time,
Attention,
Your love,
Commitment,
Presence.
It is your devotion.
Everything you have given of yourself today is making its way back to you.
To refill you from the outside in.
To restore,
Nurture and nourish you.
Taking a few moments now to sit and bathe in this light.
The light of your energy.
Seeing it hover over the very top of your head and slowly with each breath in and out allow it to flow effortlessly and enter and circulate throughout your entire body.
Restoring your life force.
Nurturing your body.
Nourishing your spirit.
Simply be here now.
Dear Mama,
Your children need you to matter to you.
Thank you for being here.
Thank you for honouring yourself this evening.
May you feel whole once again.
Until tomorrow where you do it all again.
But from a place of wholeness.
With your own cup full of your own love.
It is important that you know today you did a beautiful job tending to your children.
