Caregiver's Self-Care Restore: This is the third in my self-care caregiver meditation series that is suitable for anyone needing to restore your energy during the day. It is an energy-wellness restorative meditation with metaphoric links to the strength and nourishment of the majestic pine tree. Use this gentle stretch to relax and restore you anytime you need a break to boost your energy during the day, or at bedtime, to help you settle before sleep. You will hear the quiet sounds of Sadie's harp during the second half of this meditation to help you relax and enjoy.

Welcome back.

To prepare for this restorative meditation,

Please lie down on a comfortable surface and cover yourself lightly so you won't become distracted by feeling cool in some part of your body as you begin to relax.

And when you're comfortable,

I'd like you to raise your arms up,

Back and over your head in a full out stretch pointing both fingers and toes to make yourself as tall as possible,

Like the majestic pine tree.

And then hold this position of strength for a count of 10.

Your count.

And then relax both hands and feet,

Letting your feet relax towards each other so that your big toes are touching if this is comfortable.

Imagining that they're connecting with the roots that support the pine tree imagery,

Feeding you with nourishment of rich and grounding earth energy.

And then relaxing your arms so that your elbows are bent above the surface of your head,

Becoming like the canopy of the pine trees upper branches.

And now I'd like you to place your right hand under the back of your left hand and lightly hold your right thumb and first finger against the bony parts of your left wrist.

And I'm going to repeat this in a moment.

I'll just say though that once you have found this position,

It should feel quite comfortable.

You're actually cupping the back of your left hand with the palm of your right hand,

Then touching your right thumb and first finger comfortably around the rest of your left hand at the bony part on either side of your wrist.

Then relax your fingers,

Hands and arms in this position.

You may feel a gentle opening through your chest and your shoulders in this position as you continue to hold it.

And this will allow vital energy to flow freely and restoratively in your body and mind.

You may need to adjust the position as we hold it throughout the meditation if you're feeling uncomfortable.

For now though,

Begin to breathe more slowly and deeply.

As you imagine you are drawing up the rich nourishment from your pine tree roots,

All the way up to your fingertips and the top of your head.

.

.

And make any adjustments if you need to feel completely relaxed.

Letting go of tension in your shoulders,

Softening your shoulders and upper back,

Neck,

Relaxing your face and lower jaw,

Letting your lower jaw open slightly with your lips remaining closed.

And as in our last meditation,

Allowing a smile to come over your face.

And notice where in your body you may be feeling a gentle stretch.

Perhaps breathing into that place.

Encouraging the energy to flow even more easily.

.

And feel this nourishment of energy wellness slowly moving within you.

Strengthening you like the beautiful pine tree.

Gifting you with its timeless beauty.

Restoring you.

Allowing you to just float now for as long as you need today.

.

Remembering to be kind,

Gentle and loving with yourself today and every day and with all you meet.

Namaste.

.

I live in an area surrounded by pine trees, I might just try this meditation lying next to one next time! (When the snow melts!) 😊
