So welcome,
Inviting you to find a comfortable position,
Laying down for this meditation.
Please use cushions under your knees,
Blankets under your arms or hands,
Perhaps pausing the recording now so you can find a space for you,
Find props you need and settling.
We could just begin by settling,
Noticing how it is to arrive and casting your attention to this beautiful body,
Coming inside and being very curious to begin about the contact through your back body on the earth,
Starting from the back of your head perhaps if you so wish,
Feeling the places of contact on wide expansive earth underneath you and the possibility of earth coming up to support,
Continuing your inquiry down through the back body to that place at the occipital bone,
That protuberance at the bottom of the base of the head.
How is the contact there with earth?
Eventually finding your way to shoulders,
Elbows,
Backs of your hands and down through your back body to the back of the pelvis,
Broad,
Wide and heavy.
The backs of your knees,
Softening,
Dialoguing with the earth even though not in contact perhaps.
The heels,
All the places of contact with earth,
All the way down to the feet.
The possibility that our attention,
If it's being drawn away,
Energy of being taken somewhere else.
Gently,
Gently bringing us back and bringing your attention gently back to those places of meeting with the earth and as though the body would just love to sink into the earth some more.
As though it's sighing a deep sigh of unraveling,
Letting itself be held so that the earth underneath,
It's depth,
It's aliveness,
It's nourishment,
It's expansiveness.
Playing for a while with breathing in and out with earth as though the in-breath.
Soaking up nourishments from earth,
Roots,
Soil and on the out-breath releasing your cells,
Trillions of cells,
Communities of cells in your body releasing,
Earth receiving.
A breath that's effortless,
A breath that seems to arise more from the support,
From the contact with this wide knowing,
This wider connection,
A relationship with earth our body knows and our earth knows.
Just slipping back in,
As though just stepping back into the flow.
I invite you to be curious about the back of the head,
The back of your heart,
The back of your pelvis,
The backs of your legs and your feet.
With a gentle wide attention as though those points,
Gently holding those points allows ourself,
Allows us to anchor,
Mysterious dialogue,
Exchange.
And that breath,
Breathing in,
Deep soil,
Roots,
Earth.
As we exhale our body knows how to release downwards,
Earthwards,
Earth receiving what we would love to let go.
No need for thinking,
Ideas,
Concepts,
A natural letting go,
A chemistry that needs no concepts,
Ideas.
And as we rest into this deeper rest,
Wide back body,
In this potent time of year,
Spring equinox,
This pausing,
Turning moment of the year,
Where all of that potent gathering through autumn,
Winter,
Nourishing seeds of new beginnings,
Might you play with some roots that might weave their way from your midline,
Back body and midline into the earth.
Rooting deep,
Journeying soft,
Curling tendrils and roots,
Soft,
Juicy,
Alive.
Earth,
Surrendering in joy,
A natural osmosis,
A natural chemistry,
Roots,
Soil,
Nourishment.
Nature's cycles as fundamental as an in and out breath,
As the birds song or flight.
And this gentle rooting,
Always in relationship to the force of lightness,
As much as gravity,
This force of gravity of earth,
This mysterious organizing force of life.
Always in harmony and union with an upward force that's orientating us upwards,
Light.
So as these roots gather down,
Explore,
In that place of midline that they originate from,
Staying there for a while,
In the midline of your body,
This deep center,
From feet to tail to head,
Midline.
Nothing fixed,
But alive.
Soft perhaps,
Fluid,
Sweet.
And could there be this potent gathering,
Being breathed in their fullness,
Fluid buoyancy,
With a mysterious aliveness that we can't do or make.
And just as the shoots,
Just as the seeds in the earth rooting,
For the shoots to start their way up,
Pushing through the soil.
Feeling,
Knowing and sensing the wide blue sky above,
The light,
The birds song,
The expansiveness,
The invitation to grow,
But taking time.
Just bathing in the possibility,
Resting in this potent midline.
Not losing connection with the roots and the earth,
The wide expensive back body,
Gravity,
Mother earth,
Nourishing and supporting.
Not losing contacts with this soft bubbling midline.
Not losing those places of your center,
As you widen your awareness very gently to feel the expansiveness of wide blue sky,
Birds song,
Sunlight.
No shoots need to grow,
No pushing up through the soil in a hurry.
A natural unfolding.
No getting anywhere or going anywhere in a hurry,
Pushing or pulling.
So there's a room for what would really love to grow.
So there's space for what would really love to be here in your life.
From this wide knowing,
From this intelligence of receiving from behind,
From below,
From the depth of the soil of body and earth.
How is it to be with just holding this listening space?
The feeling of the wide expensive welcome and the nourishment of wide blue sky,
Birds song,
Trees,
Sunlight.
A space for what would love to grow.
The possibility of something else.
Than the same old unhelpful habits.
Earth and sky allowing us to be in our center.
In this deep pause of spring equinox,
This deep turning time.
And even if it's just a trickle of light dropping through a small slither of opening,
This tiny drop Tiny opening.
So that we might relinquish ideas of big plans,
Linear strategies,
Fixing ourselves.
But just get in the way of a natural unravelling,
Our natural connection and relationship to these natural cycles of life.
Feeling that trickle of light that place of softening,
That place of fluid breath,
Sweetness.
These streaming of life trickling through,
Streaming aliveness.
May all beings be peace.
May all beings be free.
