My father passed away in December and I'm not sleeping well.

Should I participate in this session in the evening instead?

I am tired in the mornings.

Should I stay with the live practice but with really low energy?

Meditation should not be the ultimate goal in life.

The purpose of your life should be to live a life of peace and happiness.

Meditation is just a way to get there.

If you are having issues with sleeping,

If you are suffering from insomnia,

Maybe you should look into going to a doctor and get professional medical help.

However,

If it's not a physical issue but it comes about as an emotional issue because you are suffering and you have lingering attachment to your father and you are suffering because of his death,

You have to be able to let go of that attachment.

Even the most beautiful of flowers is going to lose its colors after a while.

And once the flower loses its colors and loses its bloom,

Then eventually it's going to go back to the soil and become fertilizer for the next generation.

Even the most beautiful colors of the leaves,

After the fall passes,

It's going to fall to the ground.

To wish something to be permanent just because you are related to it or you like it,

It's not going to happen.

So if your suffering comes about because of your attachment to what cannot be permanent,

Then you have to overcome that through meditation.

So you need to be able to practice focusing on your breath and letting everything else go.

So you need to be able to practice focusing on your breath and letting everything else go.

However,

If your insomnia has some cause and kind of physical imbalance,

Then meditation by itself will not be able to resolve it.

First,

Go to a doctor and see if there is anything they can do.

If that doesn't work,

Then try meditation in the evening when you're not as tired or sleepy.

However,

If you're doing it by yourself in the evening,

You can't focus as well,

Then try to come back and try again in the morning and join the live meditation session.

But I wish you would go to see a doctor first and see if there is anything they can help.

And also try to let go of your attachment to your father.

Thank you.
