Hello my friends,
My name is Kalyani and I invite you to join me for a short and sweet powerful break from your day.
Each mindful minutes practice is a soft landing,
A gentle reorientation,
A way of remembering yourself in the midst of the chaos of everyday life,
Bringing peace to your mind and ease to your body as we regulate our nervous system together in small bite-sized practices.
You deserve this time to feel better.
Today's topic is the gift of forgiveness.
Take a few long slow breaths as together we push the pause button on our day,
Inviting the eyes to close gently for just a few moments,
Inviting the breath to just naturally slow down.
And each time your mind wanders off into thinking,
Lovingly guide it back to the rise and fall of your relaxed breath.
Max Lucado has a great quote about forgiveness.
He says,
Forgiveness is unlocking the door to set someone free and realizing you were the prisoner.
How true that is.
Forgiveness is an emotional and spiritual shift within that heals the forgiver rather than excusing the offender.
It's a gift to ourselves,
Setting ourselves free from anger,
Resentment,
And a need for revenge.
We are not forgetting what happened to us.
We begin our own process of healing by acknowledging our pain.
Instead of wallowing in it,
We feel it,
Identify our emotions about it,
And shine the spotlight of our attention on it instead of running away.
Forgiveness does not mean to condone the misdeeds of another.
It becomes possible when we remember that hurt people hurt people.
Finding some level of understanding about humanity that allows some people to hurt others.
Then we shift our perspective,
Noticing that the person who hurt us has been living rent-free within our mind.
Today is eviction day.
While you cannot change the past,
You can control how you choose to move forward in your life,
No longer allowing your pain to define you.
Forgiveness is a powerful,
Transformational choice,
Releasing you from the burden of resentment,
Freeing you from the emotional bondage,
Healing your wounds,
Regaining your inner calm,
No longer challenging the past,
No longer looking back.
By forgiving the ones who hurt you,
You give yourself the greatest gift,
The gift of freedom and ease,
The gift of joy and laughter,
A beautiful act of self-love,
Self-preservation,
A conscious decision that says you are worthy of peace.
Give yourself grace,
Securing your future of freedom.
Come back to your breath now.
Allow your breath to find its own comfortable rhythm,
Tuning to the wave-like motion as the breath falls in and out with as little effort as possible.
Allow your breath to fill you up with the inhale and empty you out with the exhale,
Allowing yourself to be filled with gratitude,
Sending gratitude into your mind and body,
Letting go of the busyness of your day for this brief moment of awareness,
Cultivating gratitude for the gift of your breath,
And remembering that you can return to the breath whenever life overwhelms you,
Coming back to this place of peace and calm within by simply deepening your breath.
Make today a great day,
My friends.
