This is a grounding meditation.
When we don't feel grounded,
This can lead to feeling unsafe,
Anxious,
And ultimately an imbalance in our physical and emotional body.
At the center of feeling grounded is a feeling of calmness and being content in the present moment.
Taking a few moments each day to ground your energy can significantly change your life.
This meditation is best seated or lying down on the ground.
Just make sure you are comfortable.
Let's begin by taking deep breaths.
And if it feels appropriate,
You can close off your eyes.
Start by breathing in through your nose for the count of 4,
3,
2,
1 and hold the breath at the top.
And then exhale out through your mouth for 4,
3,
2,
1.
Inhale through your nostrils for 4,
3,
2,
1 and hold the breath at the top.
Inhale out through your mouth for 5,
4,
3,
2,
1.
Inhale for 4,
3,
2,
1.
Hold the breath in.
In mouth exhale the breath out for 6,
5,
4,
3,
2,
1.
Continue to let your breath be lengthened and filled with ease.
We tend to breathe from the very top of our chest when we are stressed.
So focus on breathing deeper from under the ribs and into the lower abdomen.
Whenever you find your mind wandering,
Just continue to return to the slow calming awareness of your breath.
Start by connecting your body to the present surroundings.
The gravitational pull around you.
The sounds near and far.
Perhaps any sense in the air.
Allow all these sensations to feel comforting and grounding in your body.
Now start to connect to the parts of your body touching the surface below you.
Feel secure and safe and grounded as you give your body weight to the earth.
Continue to deepen and lengthen your breath.
Begin to visualize yourself in nature.
Perhaps you are surrounded by beautiful trees,
Colorful flowers,
And soft sounds of the warm breeze and birds that symbolize feeling alive.
In your happy and safe space in nature,
Just breathe and relax here.
In your happy and safe space,
Begin to build a connection to the earth's energy as if you had roots or vines connecting you to the earth below you.
Visualize yourself drawing this nutrient dense powerful balancing energy up through this root system and into your body.
Now visualize yourself releasing any energy that is no longer serving you,
Letting it go and feeling lighter in your body as you practice giving and receiving.
Letting it go to be carried away as you rest here and relax.
