Hello and welcome to this meditation for work,
Exhaustion,
And burnout.
It's oftentimes when we are working really hard,
Providing value in the world,
That we can get very stressed out and overwhelmed by the tasks that we have to do.
And during these times,
It's really important to check back in with ourselves and provide ourselves compassion and rest so we can take time to recharge.
For this meditation,
Please find a comfortable posture,
Either seated upright or laying down,
And take a moment and close your eyes.
Notice how your body feels in this present moment.
If you are particularly stressed or exhausted or burnt out,
You may observe certain feelings of contraction within the body,
Such as tightness or gripping,
Or various sensations such as heat or feelings of heaviness.
Whatever arises within your body,
Simply just observe without any kind of judgment.
And now bring your attention to the head.
Gently just relax any tension here.
Relaxing into the forehead,
The eyes,
The cheeks,
And your jaw.
And bring your attention down to the neck and the shoulders,
The trap muscles.
Relax and soften into these areas.
Bring your attention now to the shoulders,
Down to the arms.
Start to relax and soften into these areas.
Soften into the hands.
And bring your attention now to the chest and the abdomen.
And once again,
Soften into these areas.
You can even take a deep breath here.
As you exhale,
Just notice all the tension and stress accumulated in these areas start to dissolve.
Bring your attention to your back.
And observe any tension melt away from your upper back,
Your mid-back,
And your lower back.
Bring your attention to the hips.
Notice if there's any tension or tightness here.
Just notice it slowly start to soften and melt away.
Bring your attention to the thighs and the hamstrings.
Soften into these areas.
Observe any tensions toward here slowly start to disappear.
Bring your attention to the calves.
Once again,
Just soften into your calves.
Notice any tension and stress stored up here start to disappear as well.
Bring your attention to the feet.
And see any tension or stress held in the feet start to melt away.
As your body starts to relax more,
Notice if there's any particular areas in your body that still hold a bit of tension.
Begin to zoom into these areas.
If your work is physically taxing,
You may observe a physical sensation.
Sensations of muscle tightness.
If your work is mentally taxing,
You may observe certain strain in the forehead area or temples.
Simply just observe and zoom in onto these lingering areas of tension and stress.
And as we did before,
Relax into these areas of tension.
And notice it melt away.
This can be aided by a visualization of a fire that's burning away any tension.
Or you can go the opposite way and see a very cool relieving mist start to spray and soothe these very tense and tight areas within your body or your mind.
Continue to relax your body from head to toe.
And any time a specific tension or areas of tightness start to arise in your awareness,
Come back to our previous technique of zooming in and either melting it or cooling the tension away.
And once you've done so,
Continue to relax the body from head to toe.
As we end today's meditation practice,
Take a moment and zoom your attention out and observe how your mind and your body feel in this present moment.
Notice how you feel now compared to the beginning of this meditation when you first began to check in.
And take a moment and honor yourself.
When we work,
We are providing service and value to the world.
But at times we can push a little bit too much and neglect our own selves in the process.
So by coming back and actually thanking ourselves for doing good things in the world,
We show to ourselves in this manner that we are worthy and we deserve rest as well.
The whole world thanks you for your contribution today.
You can now open your eyes and thank yourself for taking the time to practice today.
