Transcript

Welcome back to the five-minute meditation challenge.

Today is day four,

Our sense of taste.

Begin our practice finding a comfortable seated position.

Breathing slowly in and slowly out.

Settling in,

Allowing ourselves to gently turn our attention to our mouth,

Our sense of taste.

Become aware of the taste on your tongue.

Perhaps you're able to notice the last thing that you ate or drank.

Is this taste bitter,

Sweet,

Sour,

Savory?

What is the sensation on your tongue?

And notice if the mouth feels cool,

Warm,

Dry.

Have the salivary glands activated?

Is there an intense desire to swallow?

Do you experience the taste in other parts of your mouth?

Your cheeks,

The roof of your mouth,

The back of your throat?

And if there's not anything readily identifiable,

Just as we practiced with our sense of smell,

Can you be aware of the neutrality?

Bringing awareness to the tongue,

The jaw.

Noticing any sensations that arise.

Observing taste.

Observing the sensations of your mouth.

And if you're breathing through your mouth,

Noticing that experience of breath and air grazing your tongue.

Observing,

Noting,

Beginning again.

Observing,

Noting,

Letting go.
