Hi,

My name is Liz Scott and this is day nine of a 30-day experiment which is exploring living from a place of love rather than fear.

In other words,

Each and every day I am intentionally bringing my awareness back to a settled space of love if and when I feel the unsettled,

Insecure thoughts of fear.

And the invitation is that you join me on this experiment.

Yesterday I learned a great lesson about love and this is what's happening.

I'm learning lessons each and every day.

So yesterday was quite a spiritual experience where I really noticed the beauty of love.

I noticed love or felt love was like this cage of white doves that I released and I have an ill neighbor and I'm not able to visit her.

So instead I imagined myself releasing this cage of doves to fly into her house and around her house and to share a love,

Deep love within the house of my very,

Very ill,

Terminally ill neighbor.

Today has been much more about the simple message of love.

I'm going to share with you what I've learned about love today and this has been a day where I've learned about love being all about care and attention and simplicity.

So I went out for lunch with my husband.

We enjoy a plant-based diet and we're often going to places and not having a great experience with food.

But somebody recommended a restaurant in a city and we went there and we had a fabulous time.

It was a really small eatery so there were very few tables and the manager was also the owner of the restaurant.

One of the things that became clear very quickly was this sense of care and attention that each and every customer got from the manager and from the staff.

It was like we were guests and it was like we were going into his house.

The food was absolutely delicious and once again I could almost taste the love,

Care and attention that had gone into each plate of food with the preparation and the creation,

The cooking of the food itself.

So once again there was this sense of loving care and attention in the food.

And after we'd eaten our meal and we were talking to the manager,

I wondered whether he had any other restaurants and he said no he didn't and he went on to explain why.

He said that it was really important for him that the quality and care of each plate of food was so important that he didn't want anything to be mass-produced.

And he said the bigger you go the more you have to mass-produce things because you have to ensure quality and consistency in what people are eating.

And once again I really loved this response because he wasn't in this to see how much money he could make.

He was in a business where he loved what he did but he also generated an income and had a business from doing what he loved.

And I find that really inspiring because many businesses,

Particularly restaurant businesses,

Are all about getting in as many people as possible,

Serving them as quickly as possible and then freeing up the table so that more customers can come in.

This was different.

This felt like I was a guest in his house and I really appreciated that experience.

So today just this experience of going in and having a meal,

Having some slow time with my husband,

Eating delicious food,

Feeling the care and love that was present in this restaurant,

It really helped me realise that the thread of love doesn't have to be fancy or overcomplicated.

And there's something that deeply resonates for me about this.

I really love this idea of love being in simplicity.

So today what I've seen is that love turns up with a sense of contentment and settledness.

I had a great time with my husband.

We weren't rushing.

We were just enjoying the experience of being together and enjoying good food.

Love showed up in the care and attention that the restaurant manager and his staff showed us and the way that he wanted us to have a really great experience and he obviously loved the food that he was creating.

So love shows up in different ways.

It doesn't have to be wild of fireworks.

It can be this settled contentment and that's what I got from today is the settledness and the nourishment of being in and around people who really care for what they're doing and who provide a nourishing experience.

So that's what I've learned today about love.

It's about slowing down and noticing and being around people who love and care for what they do.

How are you getting on with the experiments around living from love rather than fear?

What's turning up for you?

Today for me has been about simplicity and care and I would love to know what you're seeing in your experiment as you have a go at living from love rather than fear.

Let me know how you're getting on.
