This is an intention setting meditation where we can connect with our hearts deepest desire to live a life of joy and meaning.
So begin by making sure you're comfortable sitting in a chair or lying down or sitting cross-legged on the floor.
And you may like to do this practice quite often,
Maybe every Monday as you begin a new week of life.
Just allowing a regular time of practice to check in with your own hearts intentions and aspirations.
And so we begin every practice with a commitment.
Maybe bringing hands together at the heart.
And wishing deeply that we bring mindful awareness to our body,
Our heart and our mind.
Knowing that it's for our own deepest well-being and for the benefit of all those whose lives ours touches.
Committing to align our hearts with kindness and compassion.
Knowing that this will naturally spread out to others.
And then releasing your hands to a comfortable position.
And softening into the body.
Feeling the points of contact with the earth.
And then tuning into your soothing breathing rhythm.
Allowing the body to breathe for you.
Drawing your attention to your out-breath.
And listening to it closely,
Like a gently flowing breeze.
Relaxing into each out-breath.
Giving yourself permission to let go of daily concerns.
Relaxing into each out-breath.
Giving yourself permission to let go of daily concerns.
And having taken some time to pause,
To soften.
You can bring your attention to the space of your heart,
Asking yourself,
What is my heart's desire?
What would make me truly happy?
Allowing thoughts and ideas to bubble up without needing to analyze.
Dropping in another question,
What do I wish for myself,
My loved ones,
And for the world?
And what would it feel like to realize my heart's deepest desires?
You may like to stop the recording to reflect on these questions.
Opening and seeing whatever comes up.
Allowing yourself to be indulgent and optimistic.
Wishing the very best for yourself,
As you would for your best friend.
And you may like to imagine this desire for happiness symbolically as an orb of white light at the heart.
Filling,
Opening the heart,
And then cascading throughout the whole body.
Saturating the mind with each out-breath.
And you may like to imagine this desire for happiness symbolically as an orb of white light at the heart.
And as images of what you deeply,
Truly wish for come to mind,
Begin to see them actually happening.
As you say to yourself on the out-breath,
May I be truly happy.
And breath by breath,
Imagining the fulfillment of our own dreams and aspirations blossoming right here and right now.
Thank you.
And in the next stage of our practice,
We consider the truth of interdependence.
We are inextricably dependent on many others to live our innermost dreams.
So asking yourself now,
What would I love to receive from others and from my environment to realize my heart's desires?
And with each out-breath,
And with each in-breath now,
Saying to yourself,
May I receive all I truly need day to day,
Moment to moment.
And if it feels supportive for you,
Imagining that all you would love to receive is coming into your heart in the form of white light on every in-breath,
Filling your heart and spreading through the entire body.
Imagining that here and now we're receiving all that we truly need and that reality is reaching up to support us.
And in the next stage of the practice,
We explore what inner transformation may be needed to take us towards our intention,
Our aspiration.
We need not only the blessings and assistance from others,
But also to release some of our habit patterns that may be holding us back.
So asking yourself,
What qualities of mind and behaviors do I wish to be free of?
What mental habits may be standing in the way of my deeper aspirations or blocking me from realizing my true happiness?
And as these come to mind,
We can imagine them leaving us with each out-breath,
Saying to yourself,
May it be so.
Imagining that transformation,
Those releases happening right here,
Right now.
And now focusing on any inner resources we would love to cultivate or strengthen in order to bring about our deepest happiness.
What qualities of mind,
Of heart would you love to be invested with?
And with each in-breath,
Envisioning your own growth toward the realization of your dreams.
Once again saying to yourself,
May it be so.
And with each in-breath,
Imagining this transformation,
This accumulation taking place within you,
Right here,
Right now.
And in our final stage of practice,
We explore our contribution to the world.
In order to infuse our lives with as much meaning as possible,
We can reflect on what kind of mark we would like to make on the world.
What is the greatest good that you can imagine bringing to the world so that it is a better place,
Because you have been here?
And at the end of your life,
Imagine looking back with a deep sense of satisfaction,
Knowing that this was a life well lived.
And with each out-breath,
Imagining all the things that you would like to offer,
Drawing on your unique background,
Your talents,
Your interests and training,
Your strengths and your vision.
Imagine offering these in the here and now.
And picture those around you receiving your offerings with joy and delight.
Thank you.
And in order to close the practice,
We now release all images,
Letting our ideas dissolve away,
And resting our awareness in utter simplicity and stillness.
The place of emptiness.
Resting in that sense of potential,
From which all our aspirations and intentions arise.
Thank you.
Thank you.
