Hello.
Welcome to this meditation.
I invite you to draw your biggest breath yet for the day.
Hold the air at the top of your lungs.
Exhale.
And again.
Exhale.
When you breathe in,
It's a really good idea to imagine the breath going deep down into your belly.
Filling up your body like it's a sort of love-filled balloon.
Every breath in,
Inspiration.
Every breath out,
Love.
I'd like to start this morning's meditation with a thought about consistency.
I'm recording this meditation on the first day of a new month,
The first day of a new week.
It's always easy on the beginning day or the beginning month to feel enthused,
To feel invigorated for the times to come.
We often set ourselves new standards,
New goals.
Staying consistent as the days wear on is sometimes a challenge.
I invite you to settle into your body.
Have a wriggle around.
Find that sweet spot where you feel settled just for a moment.
And think about where you want to become consistent in the next few days,
Weeks,
Months,
Years.
It's my experience that consistency is the magic.
Consistency is the ingredient that shifts everything.
Whether it's if you have a health goal,
Career goal,
Relationship goal,
Small steps regularly,
Taken with intention,
Enacted with faith.
We don't see the results of these small steps in the short term.
When we go to the gym once,
We don't see a change in our bodies.
When we make one huge contribution at work,
It might shift the dial in the short term,
But it's unlikely to build the foundations for a strong and up-level career.
When we make one wild gesture in our relationships,
It might be received with a fanfare in the short term.
But it's the daily acts of kindness,
The small contributions that compound,
That proves our commitment and our desire to the universe.
Manifest in our energetic up-leveling.
It's my experience that consistency is the magic.
It's also hard to remain consistent when you don't have faith,
When you don't have some inkling of certainty,
Certainty beyond logic.
When our desires are grounded in certainty beyond logic,
We are able to remain consistent in the face of all sorts of challenges and hiccups along the way.
All sorts of obstacles that present themselves.
Distractions.
Things that would trip us up.
Make us think that maybe going to the gym today isn't what we need to do.
Or maybe pulling a sickie at work is the way forward when we've got something difficult to tackle in the work environment.
Or maybe doing something in our relationships that doesn't comply with kindness or contributing to the overall wellbeing of that relationship.
Sometimes it's really tempting to take the easier,
Softer way.
Sometimes we can convince ourselves that that's the right way.
Our minds can talk us into laziness.
But consistency is always the kindest thing for ourselves and ultimately for others.
I invite you to think then perhaps consistency isn't boring.
That it's perhaps the magic ingredient that we're all looking for.
And that consistency combined with desire and faith and certainty beyond logic is where the miracles and the magic lie.
I invite you to look for where you can find new pools of strength.
To shift yourself into consistency.
If there's an area in your life where you want to see some magic occur.
Little consistent actions.
Little but often.
Miraculous way of compounding into large,
Impressive outcomes.
That's what we're looking for.
It's not necessarily about impressing others.
But if we're looking for that change,
That shift in our own lives.
I invite you to really think about how consistency and the compounding of small,
Most insignificant acts on a daily or regular basis is what really shifts the dial.
It's what really builds and helps us achieve those larger outcomes.
Helps us reach into those much grander desires.
How doing small,
Humble,
Consistent actions on a daily basis is what really builds greatness.
I invite you to take a deep breath and think about how you can be consistent today,
This week,
This month.
Not just at the beginning of a new week or a new month,
But how that can be integrated into your way of being on a daily basis,
Just for today.
For many days.
And done just for today.
How they become lifetimes.
How they add up to forever.
I'd like to end this meditation with a prayer that is dear to me.
Dear God,
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change.
The courage to change the things I can.
And the wisdom to know the difference.
Amen.
And so it is.
