This meditation is for people who love to create.
But sometimes find it a little tricky to get started.
Together,
We'll settle the nervous system.
Reconnect with the wisdom of the body.
And remember,
We only need to feel safe enough to begin our creative work.
I invite you to take a moment to settle into a comfortable position.
You may choose to be lying down.
Or sated.
Take a moment to let the spine lengthen and relax.
You're welcome to close your eyes or soften your gaze.
As we begin to shift our awareness from the external world to the internal world.
I invite you to join me by taking three intentional breaths.
Breathing in through the nose to the count of four.
.
.
And breathing out to the count of four.
Again,
Breathing in,
Two,
Three.
And breathing out.
Too.
3 There's nowhere else you need to be right now.
Nothing to achieve,
Nothing to fix.
Nothing to prove.
Just being present in this moment.
Breathing in.
3 and breathing out too.
3.
Notice the sensation of the body where it makes contact with the surface beneath you.
Allowing your awareness to notice that that surface is supporting you.
It's the Earth holding you.
And now returning to the sensation of the breath.
Just the breath moving all by itself.
No need to change or control the breathing.
Life is already breathing through you.
Allow your attention to rest gently on the sensation.
Of the breath.
Perhaps the rise and fall of the chest.
The expansion and release of the belly.
Or the coolness of the inhale.
At the tip of the nose.
As thoughts arise.
Allow them to just gently come and go like clouds passing.
Across a wide open blue sky.
You don't need to fight the thoughts.
Don't need to cling to them,
We're simply noticing them as they pass by.
And as we notice,
We just return our awareness to the breath.
Returning to the body.
Returning to the present moment.
Now I invite you to.
.
.
Notice the creation that has been calling to you.
Something new that's been inviting you to bring it into being.
Perhaps it's a song?
A painting,
A business idea.
Conversation or a piece of writing.
This creation has been gently tugging at your sleeve.
Quietly inviting you to action.
It's a little creation that keeps circling your awareness that you haven't quite realised yet.
Not because you're lazy.
Not because you're incapable.
But perhaps you've been waiting to feel safe.
Safe enough to take the first step.
Safe enough to be seen.
Safe enough to make some mistakes.
Safe enough to learn.
Just safe enough to create.
Notice how your body responds.
As this creation comes to mind.
Without judging the response,
Simply notice.
Where does that sensation sit in your body?
What does it feel like?
Is there excitement?
Movement?
Nopes.
Tension.
Is there a burning curiosity?
Or perhaps a little resistance.
Allow whatever is present.
To simply be present.
These sensations are your body communicating.
Your body trying to help.
Take a slow breath in.
.
.
And a long gentle breath out.
Imagine that with each exhale your nervous system settles a little more deeply.
Into safety.
Remembering that sensation of being held and supported.
We're not waiting for perfect safety.
Or absolute certainty.
Just feeling safe enough.
Safe enough to take one step.
Safe enough to write just one paragraph.
To play the first note.
Safe enough to make one phone call.
Just get things started.
Just safe enough.
When we look around us in nature.
We observe that nature doesn't wait for absolute certainty.
The waves don't wait for certainty before rolling towards the shore.
Trees don't wait for certainty before spreading new leaves.
And the birds don't wait for certainty before singing their morning songs.
Nature allows life to unfold.
Through curiosity.
Through participation.
With the little faith that it will be okay.
And you,
My friend,
Are part of that same living process.
Take another slow breath.
And ask yourself gently.
What's one small step I could take today?
Not waiting for tomorrow or next year.
One small step that honors the creative life within me.
We don't need to force it.
Just allow a natural answer to arise.
We're simply listening.
Trusting.
Perhaps the answer is clear.
Or perhaps it's still emerging.
Either is perfectly okay.
Take a moment to appreciate yourself.
For showing up today,
For pausing,
For listening.
For creating space to hear what is already moving within you.
Taking one final deep breath in.
And letting go one slow breath out.
As we come to a close.
Remember.
You don't need to be fearless.
You don't need to feel completely ready.
You only need to feel safe enough to begin.
And when you're ready.
Gently wiggling the fingers and toes.
Preparing to open the eyes.
And as you return to your day,
May you move with grace.
Create with Carriage and remember that you are safe enough.
To begin.
