Good evening.

I understand you've woken too soon and yearn to get back to sleep fast.

It can be so frustrating when this happens,

But trust that you have found the perfect place.

Let go of any worry or anxiety as you delve into this guided sleep meditation.

Drift back to sleep,

The cozy hearth.

Snuggle and offer yourself this moment of nurturing self-care.

It's time to dream away.

Welcome to Michelle's Meditation Sanctuary.

I am Michelle,

And I invite you to consider me your sleepy ally.

I am the voice of a dear,

Long-time friend who will make the transition back to sleep an easy voyage.

It will be so graceful that when you awake and refresh tomorrow,

You may not even remember this time together.

Focus on my words,

Understanding they are merely suggestions.

And as waves of sleepiness arrive,

You may find yourself drawn to the silent spaces between them.

Choose what you connect with and what may fade away so this practice feels custom for you.

In the sanctuary of your sleeping space and mind,

You get to decide what feels natural and best,

And what a gift,

And what a soft,

Kind experience this will be.

As you find yourself unexpectedly awake right now,

Imagine the night is simply inviting you to take a beautiful surprise detour.

You have a new view into the sleepy time as you settle into a warm,

Safe nook where all restlessness fades like smoke into the vast,

Quiet night sky.

We will wrap your awareness in the soft,

Rhythmic sounds of the hearth,

The hiss of the burning wood,

The low,

Steady pop of a settling ember,

Creating a soundscape tailored for deep slumber.

This gentle journey is designed to melt away any frustration about being awake,

Replacing it with a profound ease of knowing that every passing moment is bringing you closer to the swift,

Healing embrace of sleep.

Know that your body is ready to restore itself.

We are simply providing a perfect,

Cozy invitation.

Each breath brings you closer to the delicious bridge to sleep,

And in between consciousness and slumber,

There is a beautiful place to float,

Feeling light,

Feeling free,

And feeling the fluidity of a dream.

I invite you to let go of any thoughts or stress you have about waking too soon.

You may have had no say or control in being up right now,

But how empowering it is to know you can craft this time into a sweet interlude and a beautiful and expected journey.

You still have ample time to rest,

And your body will make up for this distraction.

It always does its best to look out for you.

To help you restore yourself and find deep rest.

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow expressed,

In happy homes,

They saw the light of household fires gleam warm and bright.

Feel that soft,

Warm light now.

The firelight becoming all the more cozy in the deep of night.

The dancing flames invite your body to soften,

Surrender,

And drift deeper and deeper down.

Into the hammock of serenity that waits for you.

The crackles and pops of splintering wood,

Engulfed by the mesmerizing flames,

Offer the profound sense that you are safe.

You are home.

This time is sacred and special.

Embrace the enjoyment you have earned right now.

Coming in pockets of peace and a nighttime holiday that invites all your cells to come along,

One by one.

They accept the chance to enter vacation mode.

Watch as the edges of everything soften like flames,

Fluid and dreamy.

Whenever something arises,

A thought or feeling,

Sense where it manifests in your body and imagine it dissolving into the warm,

Homey serve of the firelight.

The flames have the freedom to dance at will.

And that same sense of unburdened freedom inspires you.

Settling into your nerve cells and easing tension.

Anything that tries to insert itself into your holiday can wait.

You feel the warm,

Liquid magic of it all as you embrace lightness and fluidity.

And as you find yourself settling deeper,

Always allow for a little adjustment.

Perhaps shifting your position,

Pluffing your pillows,

Or wrapping your arms around yourself in a comforting hug.

Do whatever feels most supportive as we continue to get closer to sleep.

In this moment,

Practice deep acceptance and gentle patience for yourself.

Appreciate being present and awake right now as it offers a different kind of rest.

Let go of the urgency,

Let go of the timetable,

And simply trust that sleep is a natural process that will return soon.

This pause is a gift just for you.

Your breath is another transformative element in this dreamy oasis.

It is a source of power.

So allow your focus to turn to it as you release everything with a sigh,

Clearing the air.

As you inhale,

You draw in the cool,

Cleansing freshness of the night air.

Envision the flicking glow of a cozy hearth inside your bedroom,

And the deep soothing shades of a peaceful night.

Exhale in a sigh.

Breathing out anything doesn't serve this deep state of rest.

Sending it out into the night air to dissipate like a gentle mist.

Let's take another healing breath together.

Let it play and sense the cool,

Clean scent of the night air mingling with the faint,

Dry smell of sweet old wood and polished stone.

The sense of smell is powerful and helps transport you to your peaceful haven.

Exhale slowly in a sigh,

Releasing any tightness in your shoulders,

Any clenching in your jaw,

Any holding in your belly.

Allow your breath to become as soft and still as this picturesque moment.

A storybook setting that inspires peaceful dreams.

Let your breath fall into a natural,

Easy rhythm as you sense every breath bringing you closer and closer to the soft,

Faint edges of slumber.

Each in-breath and out-breath brings you closer to its mellow,

Restorative embrace.

And just as Longfellow saw the peaceful light of fires in homes,

You too may take advantage of being conscious during this magical time.

Since you find yourself awake,

Why not indulge in the night's enchantment while the rest of your city or town quietly dozes?

Imagine yourself gently stirring in the quiet of the night with a sense of calm,

Yet childlike curiosity.

You rise softly,

Drawn by the serene call of the night.

You step outside of your bedroom and pause at the doorway.

It's the perfect night for a fire.

The air is cool and still,

Ideal for drawing a strong draft up the chimney.

And the bedroom you step out of may be a dreamy place that you've imagined.

When you open the door out into the night,

You find yourself immersed in your favorite nocturnal setting.

Perhaps you see a dense,

Whispering forest.

A vast,

Silent mountain range.

Or a glassy lake.

Or a dark,

Moonlit beach just beyond the doorstep.

Or maybe you find yourself in the desert.

Or you find yourself stepping into the courtyard of a cozy old building in a city with faint,

Twinkling lights above.

The night is yours for dreaming peace into reality.

You feel the slight chill on your skin and revel in the aliveness and gentle tingles it imparts.

You softly smile,

Reflecting on how being up at night as a youth was something daring and rarely allowed.

Free will gives you a chance to be playful in the middle of the night.

The sharp air inspires your desire to find warmth by a fire.

You walk toward a spot just outside,

Where the logs are piled high and neatly arranged,

Ready to be carried in.

You select a few heavy pieces,

Feeling the solid,

Rough texture of the wood in your arms.

This moment is a reminder of the calm,

Enduring strength you hold,

Even when stirred in the night from sleep.

You peer up at the moon and sigh in this moment for personal solitude and quiet intention.

Gathering the fuel for your rest,

You step back inside,

Gentle chill clinging to your clothes and a delicate,

Unique smell of the night lingering.

You step inside this dream home,

Be it a seaside cottage,

A Victorian parlor,

A charming apartment,

Or an old cabin in the woods.

You move through the hall,

Toward the hearth that's built into the wall of your cozy bedroom.

Its sturdy base reflects your chosen aesthetic,

Perhaps dark,

Rough riverstone,

Or smooth,

Cool,

White marble.

A little cuckoo clock sits on the mantle,

Its presence a quiet reminder that you have all the time you need as it ticks gently.

You set the logs down on the hearth and reach for the fire-making materials.

First your hands find an old newspaper.

You feel the dry,

Crisp texture as you gather a few sheets and begin to crumple them into soft,

Airy balls.

The sound a low,

Satisfying shuffle of paper fibers between your hands.

You select small pieces of kindling with feathered splinters,

Enjoying the soft,

Grainy texture as they brush against your fingertips.

And you prepare a small pyramid in the center of the cool,

Dark firebox.

You choose the first large log,

Perhaps aromatic pine or slow-burning oak,

And position it gently.

You pause to feel the weight of it,

The solid,

Reliable promise of long-lasting warmth.

You feel perfectly grounded and safe.

You reach for a box of long matches that is nostalgic,

With a vintage logo and colors.

You slide the box open with ease,

Selecting a match nearly as long as your forearm.

You bring it to the striker,

Confidently held between your forefinger and thumb,

And give it a strike.

The clean,

Sharp fffft is a simple,

Yet remarkable noise that signals the comfort and rest to come.

A small,

Bright flame appears,

A tiny beacon of heat and light.

You hold it steady,

Smelling the sulfuric hint of the strike,

Which quickly gives way to the scent of the slender,

Burning wood stick.

You gently lower the match to the crumpled newspaper.

The paper catches with a soft whoosh,

And the first quick flames begin to lick upward.

A tiny kindling starts to smoke,

Then it too catches,

Crackling with intensity.

With a few stokes,

The cast iron stoker is heavy yet comfortable in your hand,

And you feel a sense of unexpected accomplishment for such a late hour.

You settle into your favorite fireside chair near the hearth.

You feel the deep,

Radiating warmth from the flames as they grow,

And begin to take hold of the larger log.

The fire is now self-sustaining,

A steady source of comfort and warmth.

The flames' movement tells a story,

Encouraging your eyes to become glassy as you get lost in the silky,

Orange-gold light.

Once more,

The ethereal energy of this place reveals itself.

You watch your thoughts,

Worries,

And any restlessness transform into tiny,

Bright sparks taking flight.

You are the observer,

Enjoying this unique,

Cinematic experience.

The cuckoo clock's hands move slowly and mesmerizingly across its face.

A beloved relic that has ticked the minutes for centuries.

The gentle,

Rhythmic click-clack of the gears guides your heart rate and thoughts,

Slowing them down to match its own steady,

Languid tempo.

As your gaze drifts over the hands,

Your eyes become heavy and tired,

Drawn down by the slow,

Peaceful passage of time.

You look back at the fire,

The light is soft and inviting.

As you gaze into the flames,

Dreamy images begin to form.

Gentle scenes of peace and comfort swirling in the light.

In the little sparks that fly upward is a flash of reassurance and deep rest.

Each spark carries away a piece of what held you awake,

Leaving behind only peace.

You let the warmth soak into you.

The crackling sounds of the fire become louder,

Filling your mental space,

Pushing other,

Less welcome sounds further into the background.

Precious memories and thoughts are reflected in the flames,

Visions of comfort and hope,

Of safety and nurturing.

You yawn,

Feeling a wave of tiredness come in.

Every part of your being aligns with the peaceful energy of the fire.

As you are gently drawn toward harmony with this magical night,

A gentle,

Easy smile graces your lips.

You stand from the chair,

The weight of sleep now heavy in your limbs,

And you move toward your bed.

Deep waves of comfort flow through you with a warm,

Gentle dry air that surrounds the hearth,

Protected by layers of safety.

From the sturdy walls of your dream home,

To the steady,

Warm glow of the fire,

To the vast,

Peaceful night sky,

You feel a bone-deep sense of ease.

You become as still as the night,

Rooted with a tangible sense of being grounded in deep peace.

At the same time,

Your breath takes on the gentle sway of the flames,

Which knows when to surrender and simply flow.

Take a slow,

Gentle exhale,

Perhaps even a soft sigh,

And release anything you no longer need.

These words stir within you.

Sleep comes with a fire's glow.

This profound message settles within you,

Like a quiet ember glowing softly in the darkness.

It flows from the crown of your head to the tips of your toes,

A wave of tranquility permeating your skin,

Tissues,

Muscles,

Nerves,

And bones.

Every single cell in your body receives the comforting signal that it's perfectly safe to stand down and surrender to sleep.

You invite in the sleepy,

Dreamy sensation that deepens with each soothing breath and every gentle crackle of the fire.

Sleep comes as easily as the soft glow of the ember with the ease of the gentle,

Persistent ascent of the spiraling smoke wisps up the chimney,

As soft as the diffused light of the night that bathes the world in a hopeful promise.

Feel yourself connecting with this comfort and serenity.

Sigh again as every muscle becomes softer and your bones become so heavy as they sink into the bed.

Warmth and softness are your natural state,

As warm as the glow of the magenta gold embers,

As lightweight as the smoke and sparks rising into the night,

As light as the warm blanket that wraps around you.

Your eyes are tired and heavy and the world takes on a dreamy haze as you gaze at the flames from the comfort of your pillow.

Gently welcome the heady waves of sleepiness.

A profound sense of calm settles upon you as you sink into this perfect mattress.

Your eyes are so heavy,

Your body so tired,

And your mood so happy and grateful for this bed cast in the firelight.

And as you continue to drift,

Knowing that sleep may bring you to any dream.

Grateful to arrive at any cherished place you wish to go.

The sense of fluidity returns as you continue to settle.

The air is cool on your face and perfect for deep sleep.

The sweet peppery scent of the crackling logs harmoniously joins the smell of fresh linens.

The sheets are cool and luxurious against your skin.

The sounds,

The smells,

And the sensations are a sleep aid in themselves.

Allow yourself to continue to appreciate this experience from the comfort of this perfect night for a fire.

Fully supported as you rest amongst the soothing sounds of the night.

Your body knows how to sleep and recognizes that it naturally is arriving now.

The nocturnal shades of deep blue and black are softened by the deepening glow of the hearth.

You feel yourself letting go of it all.

Welcoming the incoming waves of sleep that arrive more often,

More enticing than ever before.

The floating sensation comes as you drift on these waves of sleep that undulate like the soft flames rippling in the hearth,

Gently touching the dark walls of the fireplace.

As you are so very tired and so very at ease.

And as your mind drifts,

For one last time you feel the comforting pressure of your body sinking deeper into this perfect mattress.

With every slow exhale,

Your body is like a log nestled perfectly,

Heavy and settled.

There is no need for any more effort.

And with every sound of the settling fire,

Your muscles loosen further,

Surrendering to the gentle tug of gravity and sleep.

You are floating yet anchored,

Drifting effortlessly into a quiet darkness.

Sense my voice fading into the background as you simply give in,

Like sparks taking flight.

You trust the ultimate destination,

And grace will return to deep,

Healing sleep.

The firelight washes over you,

Gentle waves of peace from the crown of your head to the soles of your tired feet as every part of you gives in to the welcoming,

Comforting,

Loving embrace of slumber.

Finding quietude,

Finding comfort,

Finding your way back to sleep.

Michelle, I woke up last night after midnight & put on this sleep meditation on repeat. I did fall back to sleep listening to your soothing voice, but then woke up listening to the too loud crackling sound of a fire. I may have had the volume on too high, as this fire sound was keeping me awake. So I lowered the volume, restarted, and fell asleep again. For some reason this crackling fire sound wakes me up. 🤷 For me personally, this track works, except I need the fire crackling sound at the end to be lower volume or softened. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗 Thank you Michelle for your response! Wishing you & your loved ones a safe & Happy Thanksgiving! 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
