Make yourself comfortable,
And perhaps gently close your eyes,
Taking a few deep breaths,
Feeling the weight of your body against the surface you're resting on,
Gently coming into the here and now and the present moment Today we will reflect on the four agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz,
A powerful code of conduct that supports a life of truth,
Love and courage Essentially to ensure that your speech,
What you say does no harm,
And that it ideally reflects the best version of you The second agreement is to not take anything personally,
And this is tough What others say is a projection of their own reality What others do is a projection of their own reality So by not taking anything personally,
We release judgement and we release the need to defend We know who we are,
You know who you are,
And you don't need to defend yourself The third agreement,
And this is also tough,
Is to not make any assumptions To try and observe the world with an open mind,
To be curious,
And seek clarification before making judgements and jumping to conclusions Essentially being open and curious rather than critical And the final agreement is to always do your best Your best will vary from day to day,
If you're running at 40%,
40% is your best,
You know?
You're running at 25%,
25% is your best But when you can do more and give more,
You do But you remain detached from outcomes,
So the effort is joyful,
It's natural,
It flows You're not necessarily trying to achieve anything,
You're just putting your all into your day to day tasks So as we meditate on these four insights,
Think about how living them,
How adopting them,
How internalising them Might support you in a peaceful,
Healthy,
Nourishing life,
A fulfilled life With each in-breath,
Draw the agreements into your heart And with each out-breath,
Plant their roots deeper into your being Be impeccable with your word Speak your truth with integrity Do not take anything personally Cultivate calm,
Steadiness and remain unshaken as far as possible Do not make assumptions Be open and curious rather than judgemental And always do your best,
Allow your efforts to flow freely without attachment to outcomes,
Achievement or validation Settling now,
In the present moment,
Thinking about the four agreements The four agreements can help sweep away the fog of illusion Aligning you with your innate wisdom,
Your freedom Allowing you to be yourself,
Allowing you to act with purpose and confidence Living these agreements can be transformative You move through the world unburdened,
Or less burdened With compassion,
Joy and purpose You master the art of not reacting Meditation can really help with this Keeping you centred and grounded Acknowledging feelings but not getting caught up in stories and narratives about other people The four agreements can help you cultivate a sense of peace Allowing you to remain fully engaged as you flow through each moment from day to day Accepting life as a precious gift Repeating silently to yourself or out loud if that's comfortable I am impeccable with my word I do not take anything personally I try not to make assumptions I strive to do my best I cultivate light I cultivate love And I cultivate truth And when you're ready,
Gently open your eyes And perhaps consider carrying the four agreements with you Practicing the four agreements Internalising the four agreements And see what subtle shifts and transformations they prompt in your life And have a great day
