This is a guided meditation practice to help you fall asleep easier. It's helpful when you get stuck in worry or negative thought patterns. There are no background sounds and no bell at the end, so as to not disturb your sleep. And it's a much better way than counting sheep!

Welcome to this alternative method for falling asleep.

When our level of inner peace is low,

It can be a tremendous challenge to fall asleep.

You might have tried sleeping pills,

Drinking warm milk or even counting sheep.

Let's try to count something else.

First,

We have to remember that falling asleep isn't something you can do.

It's something that happens when you stop doing.

We fall asleep.

We don't rush asleep or jump asleep or create sleep.

We simply fall.

So,

Begin by falling into your breath.

Feel each breath.

Air coming in and air going out.

Begin to count every breath.

Count for as much as you like,

Up to a hundred.

Keep counting.

And now,

Let's continue to count all the good things in your life.

And now,

Let's continue to count all the good things in your life.

Count all the things you can be grateful for.

Even if you have been trying to fall asleep for hours and hours,

Laying in pain,

Restlessness,

Depression or anxiety,

There is still many good things going on in your life.

You are alive.

That's number one.

You can obviously hear.

You have a body with most limbs and organs intact.

You might or might not have a home,

A family,

A family.

Friends,

Work,

Dreams,

Passions.

None of this is for granted in this world.

So,

Let's keep counting all the gifts in your life.

Everything you can be grateful for.

Keep counting one thing at a time.

Even the most mundane things.

You have air to breathe,

Water to drink,

Food to eat.

Your life might not be as good as you want it to be.

Your body might not feel as good as you want it to feel.

But you have one.

You have a body.

You have this human life.

By counting all the good things in your life,

It will get easier and easier to relax and let go of the mind.

So keep counting.

And remember,

You can always come back to the breath if you run out of good things to count.
