And after the first euphoria,
She experienced a depression,
Which often happens as the ego kicks up a fuss.
But in this case,
This woman wanted to continue her journey,
But she didn't really understand that she'd had a spiritual opening.
And back in those days,
The understanding was not widespread that this could happen.
So she would go around to therapists and work with them,
But the therapist hadn't had an opening,
So they misunderstood her.
And she was so overly humble.
She felt that she had made a mistake,
That she was wrong.
She didn't understand she'd had this opening.
And so actually she spent decades going around to various therapists out of her innocence,
Out of her thinking that she obviously didn't know something that other people knew.
But actually she'd had the spiritual opening.
And she actually died without understanding what had happened to her.
And I met this woman years before I understood the spiritual journey,
And so I couldn't help her personally.
But now I feel this might be happening to others because not every therapist has had a spiritual opening.
And when you had one,
All the rules change.
And really to help somebody who's had an opening,
You have to know the territory.
So I remember back in my 30s,
So this was in the 80s,
And I had two very short stays in psychiatric wards.
And I was very glad they were short because none of the professionals understood.
I knew they didn't understand the realm I was dealing with.
I just knew they couldn't help me.
In fact,
I actually got more help from the other patients,
The ones who had had spiritual awakenings themselves.
And really we were all so clueless those days.
I didn't realize that spiritual opening,
I didn't really even understand that I'd had one.
I knew that I had touched into God somehow.
And I knew the professionals who were dealing with me in the psych wards hadn't.
And so I kind of just wanted to get out of there as soon as possible.
So even nowadays,
I think sometimes people go through difficult times and maybe they have an opening to the bigger understanding,
The bigger reality about what's going on here.
And maybe they are going to a therapist who hasn't had this experience.
So it's just,
You know,
It won't tend to work well because it's hard for somebody who hasn't had an opening to understand the perceptions of somebody who has.
So if there's nobody around who's had an opening,
Then I would just fall back on your own experience,
Your own spiritual practices.
You know,
Watching videos with really awake people,
Of really awakened people and what they say.
Some spiritual practice to help you stay present,
But take care of it because it's very sacred.
Really don't speak about it to people who don't know the territory because they just,
They won't understand and it's easy for them to make you wrong,
Even when that's not their intention.
So I think about this woman sometimes who died without realizing that she had tapped into something just extraordinary and that it was a wonder that she allowed it.
And if the Eastern sages are right and we have other lives,
I hope that next life she trusts her heart and finds,
You know,
Good help for the handle of the awakening.
