Through gentle guidance, you are led into the body, where both emotions can coexist in their full truth. Rather than pushing one away to make space for the other, this practice offers a space where all of you is welcome - your sorrow, your joy, your tenderness, your strength. By allowing these seemingly opposite feelings to be felt together, you may discover a quiet wisdom within—one that honours the depth of your experience and opens the heart to a fuller sense of aliveness. This is not a meditation to escape emotion, but to be with it more fully, with compassion and grace.

Often,

In life,

We experience an array of emotions,

However big or small.

This meditation will guide you to honour and make space for different emotions to coexist while embracing the duality that this may bring to your awareness.

Find a comfortable,

Quiet place to sit or lie down,

Gently closing your eyes and resting your palms up towards the sky.

Take a deep breath in and as you exhale,

You can invite any tension to be released from your body.

Take a few moments to focus on your breath,

Inhaling deeply and exhaling slowly.

With each breath,

Imagine a gentle wave of relaxation washing over you.

Inhale serenity and exhale tension.

Inhale peace and exhale worries.

Allow your breath to be a source of comfort and grounding.

Now,

I d like you to imagine a heavy stone in your left hand.

This stone represents the feelings of grief and sadness.

Simply feel the weight of this stone.

You may notice its texture and the space that it occupies inside your hand.

Visualize your grief as a tangible object,

Separate from you.

Notice how the weight expands within your palm.

In your right hand,

You can imagine a radiant,

Glowing light that represents your positive feelings.

Those positive feelings that truly are your guiding light,

Your motivation,

Your purpose,

Perhaps even the reason why you are willing to sit with the heaviness of the grief.

This light is warm,

Vibrant and full of happiness.

Simply feel the energy and purpose it brings into your life.

Now,

With your hands still separated,

Notice this dark contrast between the heavy stone of grief and the luminous light of happiness.

Allow yourself to fully experience these emotions,

Acknowledging their presence in your life,

No matter how different they feel.

As you continue to relax and observe,

Consider if it's possible to bring your hands closer together.

Can you gently shift the weight from one hand to the other?

It may take time and that's ok.

You have the power to control this balance,

To hold both at the same time.

When you are ready,

Bring your hands together,

Allowing the stone and the light to coexist.

Feel both the weight of your grief and the warmth of your happiness in the palms of your hands.

You may even notice how the light illuminates the stone,

Allowing you to see the texture more clearly and that the stone serves as an object for the light to focus on.

Notice how they can peacefully coexist.

Now bring your hands to your heart,

Holding your grief and happiness close.

They both reside within you and they don't have to battle or outweigh or outshine each other.

They can peacefully coexist and you can accept them both.

As you accept them both into your heart,

Take a few moments to breathe and feel the dual presence of grief and happiness in your heart.

They are part of your human experience and a testament to your capacity to love and to heal because without love,

Grief would not exist.

In this embrace,

You can feel that love and grief can peacefully coexist within you.

There is no need to choose one over the other.

You are whole and your emotions are valid.

In this space,

You find acceptance and love for yourself and all of your feelings.

When you are ready,

Gently open your beautiful eyes.

Know that you get to carry this awareness of embracing the duality of grief and happiness within you and that by honouring this duality,

You are honouring your full heart.

Remember,

You are resilient and your capacity to love is your strength.
