What's the best thing you can do for your health and your well-being?
According to former U.
S.
Surgeon General Vivek Murthy,
After years of studying people's health and inner well-being,
He discovered that there are three essential elements that fuel our fulfillment and lasting well-being.
Number one,
Relationships.
Number two,
Service.
And number three,
Purpose.
And I could not agree more with him.
He also pointed out that many people today believe happiness comes from fame,
Money or having lots and lots of followers online.
But the truth is,
Most of those things don't bring real lasting happiness.
True happiness comes from having healthy relationships with your family and your friends and from feeling useful,
Valued and productive in our daily lives.
After interviewing thousands of people throughout my career,
I've seen a clear pattern.
The more unhappy someone is,
The more likely they are to feel unproductive.
And the happier they feel and they are,
The more productive and meaningful their life becomes.
That's why being of service is essential to our happiness.
And finally,
Of course,
Having a sense of purpose is key.
For some,
That is very easy.
That purpose is crystal clear.
While for others it takes time,
Sometimes even years,
To discover.
So finding purpose can be stressful,
Yes,
But it's also what gives our life direction.
So the good news is,
You don't need to have your full picture right now.
Sometimes all it takes is making one decision,
One small step to begin walking your path And once you take that first step,
The second will appear.
Then the third,
And so on.
In other words,
You don't want to wait for a big epiphany to start living your purpose.
Start today,
Even if it's something small,
Because small steps can lead to big changes.
So remember,
The three essential elements that fuel our fulfillment and well-being in life are number one,
Relationships,
Number two,
Being of service,
And number three,
Having a purpose.
