This is a mini meditation to relax and settle the mind. The relaxation exercise at the start of the meditation brings stillness and calm to the body, before allowing the mind's 'thought ripples' to settle and experience a sense of quiet and peace. Hello,

This is a quick relaxation exercise to bring some stillness and quiet to your day.

It can be used to help you settle the mind and bring some peace and perspective and can be useful if you only have a short moment or two for a break.

To begin with,

Find a place you won't be disturbed.

Make yourself as comfy as possible and then just close your eyes.

Rest your eyes for a moment.

Focus on your body.

Resting and well supported.

Relax the key tension points.

Relax the jaw.

Relax the neck and shoulder muscles.

Relax the abdomen.

Let the whole body rest and relax.

See your breathing settling slowing gentle breaths in and out in and out more and more relaxed relaxed Imagine your mind as a pond.

A pond with ripples on the surface.

The thoughts and busyness of the day.

Watch those ripples of thoughts slowly moving to the edges of the pond.

Hear the gentle movement of the water.

As the ripples reflect off the edges watch them slowly drop in size.

See them gently disperse until eventually no ripples are left.

Just a soothing swaying motion to the water and then even the movement settles relaxes becomes calm and still.

Rest in that stillness now.

The peace.

Well done.

Bring now your awareness back to the body and then in your own time open your eyes open your eyes and bring those feelings of calm stillness and peace with you into the rest of your day.
