Hi friends.
Sometimes we're busy.
Our minds are busy,
We're busy at work,
And we just need a little break.
So there's something I like as a pattern interrupt that we call stop,
S-T-O-P.
We can do this in less than 60 seconds.
The S is for stop.
Literally,
Just stop what you're doing.
Maybe if I'm on my desk,
I push back a little bit.
Just stop.
Stop all the noise.
The tea,
Then,
Is take a breath.
Perhaps a long,
Deep inhale.
Again,
We can even do this in a meeting.
We can be subtle.
Nobody needs to know.
But that long,
Deep inhale helps to reset and calm down our nervous system.
And it's an indicator to both our body and our mind that we're going to make a change.
The O is for observe.
We become an observer of our own thoughts.
And what's going on?
Oh,
I'm angry.
I'm frustrated.
I'm busy.
I'm anxious.
Whatever the thing is,
We notice it.
And after this noticing,
I like the following technique.
I do a little affirmation.
And you can choose your own,
But here are some examples.
I might put my hand on my heart and say,
I'm okay.
I'm safe.
Or something like.
.
.
I am alright.
But you choose your own.
Another one I like,
Hand on heart or just ask myself this inquiry of what would love do?
And what I mean by that is,
Okay,
I'm busy,
I'm frustrated,
I'm angry,
I'm whatever.
That's the human part of me,
The homo sapien part of me that is reacting to life.
In survival mode.
But there's a deeper part of me,
The best part,
Whatever you want to call it,
Whatever your language for it is.
Maybe it's soul.
Your best self.
But the question is.
.
.
What would love do?
It could be,
What would soul do?
What would my best self do?
And then once we have that,
Maybe,
Maybe we're in a better place then for the P of stop,
Proceed.
We can go back into our life.
We can make a choice.
We can make a change.
Hopefully we do.
So all of this can take 30 seconds,
60 seconds.
We can do it by ourselves.
We can do it when we're around other people.
No one really needs to know.
But it's a really powerful way to just stop.
And make a little change in our life that could have a big impact.
Enjoy your journey.
We'll see you next time.
Be well.
