I invite you to give this moment to yourself because you and your well-being,
It matters.
It can be tough to make time for ourselves amidst confusing priorities,
Obligations.
It's all too easy to get lost in these,
Those which we all have.
So we take moments like this to cultivate some space that is just for you.
Your time is just as important as everyone else's.
And if you're taking time to nurture yourself,
It means that you can then show up for those around you in a more meaningful and in a more compassionate way.
So let's take a moment to get settled.
Allow your shoulders to soften,
The hands to relax.
Close the eyes and take a couple of nice,
Big,
Deep breaths,
Breathing in through the nose and out through the mouth.
And with each inhalation,
That sense of bringing in space for yourself.
And then with each exhalation,
That sense of letting go of whatever is not serving you.
And then just allowing your breath to return to its natural rhythm,
In and out of the nose.
Connecting in with the physical points of contact,
The body pressing down into the mat.
And maybe offering a kind phrase to yourself,
Reminding yourself that you deserve this time.
You and your well-being matter.
It's as if you're talking to a friend,
Being kind,
Being gentle.
So just take a moment here,
Guiding your attention to track the sensation of breathing,
And knowing that the mind will wander off,
Perhaps get caught up in a long to-do list or any responsibilities,
But it's okay.
We can meet it with kindness,
Even saying thank you,
But not right now,
And coming back to the breath.
And noticing when the mind wanders,
Thank you,
But not right now,
And gently coming back to the breath.
Coming back to the physical points of contact,
The body on the mat,
On the earth,
On the seat,
That sense of being held and supported.
Maybe noticing the sounds around you,
And noticing how it feels to have given yourself just a few moments,
A few moments dedicated to you,
To nurture the mind,
The body.
And I invite you to take with you that kind phrase,
A soft reminder that you matter,
That time for you matters,
And closing on your next exhale.
